Chapter 9 - A Message From The Past

"Where's Jason and Sandra?" Joe asked
"The last time i saw them was when Dave and that lot arrived" Cam said sorrowfully still kneeling on the floor,
"Cam it's in the past now nothing that happened before this apocalypse matters now" Joe said kneeling opposite him,
"You heard it all?" Cam asked looking at Rebekah,
"As Joe said it doesn't matter" Rebekah replied. Suddenly Carlos cam round the corner and Cam stood up straight away,
"Carlos!" Cam said in delight,
"Wow, where's the other one, you know the little girl?" Carlos asked,
"She's gone" Cam replied tearfully,
"Recent?" Carlos asked,
"About 3 months ago now" Cam replied,
"You decided not to go up north then?" Cam asked,
"Well back at the bridge, you left a map" And as Carlos said this he pulled out a map from his coat pocket and showed Cam, "I believe the little girl left this message behind for someone" he added.
"If you ever find Cam, you'll survive" Cam read out,
"That's why I came looking for you, I followed your footsteps" Carlos said, "but then I came across Terminus and then saw you guys leave from Terminus and I over heard you saying you were going to the city, you told me the city belonged to the dead" he added.
"I thought there might be a sanctuary in Atlanta, I thought it might be different to the city I entered before" Cam told Carlos,
"Well I headed up to the coast after that, and I discovered a boat so i was staying in the house which the boat was in and I've brought it back with me" Carlos said,
"Well you're welcome to stay here for as long as you wish, the boat is for a backup if this place goes" Cam explained, "but that note on the map, it must have been Ella, do you think I could keep it, it's the only memory I have of her" Cam asked,
"Yes of course but the main thing I want to talk about is the thing you told me back at the bridge before you crossed" Carlos said
"What?" Cam asked,
"Well, that we're all infected" Carlos said. Everyone looked at Carlos surprisingly,
"You can't just come up with something like that" Joe said,
"Well i didn't know for certain when I told Carlos, but when the bridge collapsed back after the school, one of the men Joe was with died in the accident, he came back and I'm certain he wasn't bit" Cam let out,
"So we come back no matter what?" Joe asked,
"Yes, it's not the bite that does it, the bite is just a fever that will soon kill you, there is also a disease out there which we've all got" Cam replied,
"Why didn't you tell us before?" Joe asked,
"I didn't want to say and then be wrong" Cam replied. Suddenly Dave got up of the floor, as a walker,
"Crap we didn't destroy his brain!" Joe shouted. Rebekah then got a gun a shot Dave in the head, she then dropped the gun and just stared at the body,
"I....I...shot him" Rebekah stuttered,
"No you shot it" Cam said,
"Here you go, keep the gun in your trousers" Cam told her whilst handing her the gun,
"Now I'm going to find Jason and Sandra" Joe said
"Um Jason might not look like the person he was" Cam said,
"What do you mean?" Joe asked,
"He was brutally tortured" Cam replied. Joe ran to a house and a minute later he came out with him and Sandra supporting Jason outside, Cam ran over to them,
"Are you ok?" Cam's asked Jason,
"Apart from my eye yes I'm fine, my broken ribs have healed, how's your shot wound?" Jason asked,
"Yeah that's healed and all the torture i got from him in the garage is healed as well" Cam replied,
"So James, haven't seen you for a while" Cam said smiling at James,
"Yeah same to you but I haven't seen a living person for a while until I met Rebekah and Joe" James replied to Cam,
"And Rebekah, how are you holding up?" Cam asked,
"A lot better" Rebekah replied,
"Well now we need to find the families living here and I've got a huge idea" Cam said while looking very happy.
