Blake
Avery listened carefully as I relayed everything Amelia had said to me. When I was done she stood there speechless. I could tell she was just as confused as I was.
"Are you sure that's what she said?" Aves asks.
"Exactly, word for word."
"What. The. Fuck. What the hell does all of that mean? Did Mum cheat on Jay? They were married before? Are we products of her betrayal? And who the fuck is our dad?!" She asks pacing up and down the lounge.
"I don't know Aves. I don't even know if it's true but we have to ask Mum. We're 18 now we have the right to know about our dad."
"If it is true. Would you want to meet him?" She asks.
"I don't know. I mean where has he been all this time? Does he even know we exist? Does he have a whole other family out there? Why would Mum keep this from us? She should have told us!" I say starting to get angry.
"She should have." Aves sighs deeply. "I don't know if I want to know him. I love Mama. She will always be my other parent. Not him."
"I love Jay too. But I want to know, Aves. I'm curious. Why the secrecy?" I ask.
"What are we going to do?"
"For now, nothing. Let's just sleep on it for a bit and when we go back up during study leave we can ask Mum then."
"Should we tell Liv?" She asks.
"Definitely not. This is about us and Mum. We keep it between us."
"Okay fine. This is a lot." she says plopping onto the couch next to me.
"Tell me about it." I sigh.
"Do you really want to know Blake?" She asks. "I feel like we're opening up Pandora's box here."
"I need to know Aves. And yeah we might be opening up Pandora's box but at least we'll know."
"I don't know if I want to know Blake. It's making me nervous."
"Whatever we find out. We're in this together."
"Blakey?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm glad you're my twin." She says resting her head on my shoulder.
"Yeah, me too."
Jay was apparently in Auckland over the weekend visiting Amelia. I'm glad something good came out of the intense conversation that we had in that bathroom. I know how much Jay misses Amelia. Liv misses her too. Amelia really was cruel to push her family away. It's not like they treat her like shit. They are really good to her.
Jay came and saw us at uni. She said she would stock up our fridge and pantry and freeze some meals for us before she left. I have to say that no matter what happened in the past, Jay had always been good to me. I'll always see her as a parent. The one that chose to stay. The one that chose us. That would never change.
Throughout the week my mind was constantly racing. I was actually really anxious about finding out the answers to the questions Amelia had posed. But I really needed to know. Were we actually a product of betrayal? What if we were? I don't know how I feel about that. I don't know how I feel about anything. I just really need some answers.
Amelia
Uni was in full swing now and the first years would have their first official Lab, not just an introduction. I had already put up the pre lab questions and info up on Canva for them. Blake did well on her last quiz she got full marks.
