Lolas pov...
My eyes flew open the second I heard the floorboard creek. My fingers were already wrapped around the knife I'd ripped from under my pillow, I was already in fight mode- even though I'd just been sleeping seconds before.
The bed was empty, he was gone, but the sounds didn't feel like him. Somebody else was in his apartment, and for a second, I thought I was one hundred percent sure of who it was. He had come to finish me off.
When another sound ripped through the air, I jolted up with my knife in front of me. I was ready to swing and slice someone open if I had to, dramatic but something that was running through my mind. He'd already taken Letty, I wasn't letting him take me too.
"Lola." Mia softly whispered, a sad smile on her face.
I narrowed my eyes on her, on the way she was practically stuck against the wall whilst lurking in Brian's bedroom- in Brian's apartment. A place she shouldn't have known existed.
Something was wrong.
I didn't care if it was stupid, I ripped the sheets off of me and quickly flew across the room before ripping the closet doors open. Empty. She shouldn't have been in Brian's apartment, something was wrong.
I stormed around like a freaking psychopath, ripping open doors and searching every corner and still finding absolutely nothing. My hand tightened around the handle of the knife whilst the other balled into a fist, making my nails dig into my skin. Where the hell was he? Where was he hiding?
I'd ripped apart the kitchen, ripped apart every fucking room and still couldnt find him. What the hell did he want? Why was he hiding in the shadows? Why was Mia so freaked out?
"LOLA!" The sound of Mia screeching my name had me stumbling to a stop.
I didn't even realise she was repeating my name over and over like a broken doll. I was still stuck in fight mode.
I spun on my heel to face her. My eyes narrowed as I searched her face. If he'd touched one hair on her head I swear to god-
"Are you okay? What's wrong?" I demanded.
Her sad eyes met mine. "Since when did you start sleeping with a knife under your pillow again?"
I'd never stopped. I didn't stop in Florida, in San Fran. I never stopped because I've never had to stop looking over my shoulder.
"Mia." I sighed with a shake of my head. She wouldn't understand.
"Wait," she mumbled whilst glancing around with a frown on her face. "Whose apartment are we in?"
Her curiosity was almost as bad as mine. And it was something I needed to rain in quickly. Mia was too much like me sometimes, whilst her curiosity was bad, she could keep it under control most of the time.
"Nobodys."
Lord if she found out we were standing in Brian's apartment, she'd flip- and I'd be in deep trouble. As much as I loved Mia, she sucked at keeping secrets which was one of the reasons I never told her much. Not after she snitched on me to Dom about me sneaking out with Letty which ended with me being 'grounded' for a month. Me and Letty still continued to sneak out so it wasn't really a punishment, but Dom still never let it go.
Mias curious eyes flitted about the room before they landed on me, making her face scrunch up. "Lola," she half screeched and half sighed.
"What?" I snapped before looking down.
