2 months after Christppher’s funeral.
Evelyn's phone buzzed with an incoming call, and she answered with a sense of trepidation, her voice laced with concern as she heard Sherry's strained voice on the other end of the line.
"Evelyn, sweetheart, I need your help," Sherry's voice was thick with emotion, her words punctuated by the hollow echo of despair.
"What's wrong, Sherry? Where are you?" Evelyn responded.
Sherry's response was hesitant, her words slurred with the weight of her pain. "I... I don't know, Evelyn. I'm lost. I can't do this anymore."
"...Sherry, where are you? I'll come find you," Evelyn's voice was urgent, her determination unwavering as she sought to help Sherry in her time of need.
“I’m outside your dorm, open up.” Sherry responded.
Evelyn walked out of her room and towards the door. She opened the door revealing Sherry standing in front of her looking a complete mess with GG in her arms.GG was completely soaked with water, she had a towel wrapped around her and she was crying and screaming her lungs out.
"Evelyn, I... I need your help," Sherry's voice was barely above a whisper, her words choked with emotion as she clung to Evelyn for support.
“Why is GG so wet? What happened?”Evelyn asked.
“I need you to watch GG for me, just 3 hours, there’s something important I have to do” Sherry said quickly before shoving GG into Evelyn’s arms and walking away.
Evelyn watched as Sherry walked off in a hurry.
“Is that GG?” Rory, Evelyn’s now roommate, walked out of her room when she heard the sound of the crying baby.
“Get some dry towels,”Evelyn said to Rory before closing the door and walking into the bathroom.
As Rory was getting the towels she noticed small trails of blood leading into the bathroom that her sisters were in.
Her heart dropped as she rushed in the bathroom with two dry towels in her hand thinking GG got hurt.
“I saw blood on the floor, Is she hurt?” Rory asked.
Evelyn said “She’s okay, she’s just really cold and wet, do you have any shirts I can use to wrap her in?”
When Evelyn reached out for the towels Rory realized the cause of the blood, It was coming from Evelyn’s wrist.
“...What happened to your wrist?” Rory asked, referring to her purple wrist and the three lines carved into them.
“Nothing.” Evelyn responded as she dried off her baby sister.
Rory said “What do you mean nothing? Evelyn, you’re wrist is bleeding”
“GG needs something warm to wear, hurry and get her a shirt.”Evelyn said, trying to avoid bringing up the topic.
Rory said “This isn’t the first time, is it? How long have you been cutting your wrist?”
Evelyn looked up at Rory and unintentionally dropped GG on the floor making her cry louder.
Rory said panicked “GG! Oh my God, Evelyn, why would you drop her?”
Rory picked GG up off the floor while Evelyn walked out of the bathroom and walked into her room getting a shirt to wrap around GG. She walked back into the bathroom, took GG out of Rory’s arms then walked back into the bedroom to wrap her in the shirt.
Rory followed her. She didn’t say anything, instead she just looked at her sister with sorrowful eyes. Once GG was wrapped up, Evelyn turned her head towards her sister acknowledging her. Evelyn’s eye filled with tears as she and her sister just stood there staring at each other. For a minute it was silent aside from GG’s crying.
