Jin's eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the dimly lit prison cell. He tried to sit up, but his body felt heavy and weak. When he managed to prop himself up against the wall, he realized that he was alone. The creatures that he had always despised were not with him.
He looked around the cell, which was barren and devoid of any furniture or belongings. The walls were made of stone, and the floor was cold and damp. Jin tried to remember how he ended up in this prison, but his memory was hazy. All he could remember was fighting with the silver-haired demon, and then everything went dark.
As he tried to stand up, a sharp pain shot through his head, causing him to wince. His headache was intense, and he felt as if his whole body had been through a grueling workout. His muscles ached, and he felt sore all over, as if he had run a marathon while carrying all his weapons.
Jin couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. He wondered if the creatures had managed to escape and left him behind. But he quickly dismissed the thought, knowing that he would have done the same if he had found a way out before them.
"Where the hell am I?" he whispered. Jin rubbed his sleepy face with his hands as he surveyed the place. The scent of iron lingered in the air, a familiar smell he had known since he was a little boy—blood. It was blood that covered the plastered stone floor. It was etched in his mind since the day immortals attacked his village. His father had hidden him inside one of their wine barrels to keep him safe. But he could hear the horrifying screams from his sister, the begging from his mother and how his father had fought until his very last breath.
While the little boy was submerged in a pool of deep red wine for hours. Amidst the chaos, he waited for his surroundings to grow still, hoping for a moment of peace in the midst of the madness. He longed for the screams of help to fade away and for the growling and grunting to cease, but they seemed to linger on, an ever-present reminder of the danger that lurked nearby
As time passed, his senses grew more acute, his body tense with fear. And when everything went silent, he knew that something terrible had happened. The little boy knew, with a heavy heart, that all he had ever loved was lost.
The immortals couldn't locate him, thanks to his father's quick thinking. With a last-ditch effort to save his son, he had dumped him into the barrel, which had covered his human scent with the wine. He realized then that it was the only thing that had kept him alive. Jin's heart was filled with an unrelenting anger towards the creatures responsible for the untimely death of his family and friends. He knew he had to do something to avenge their memory. So, he trained hard for years, honing his skills and strength.
Jin had decided to leave his hometown and move to Anthropos, a place that was three days away by foot. He wanted to be far away from the painful memories of his past and start anew.
As he had approached the borders of Anthropos, Jin's feet had grown heavy with exhaustion. The journey had been long and tiring. But he knew he had to keep going. The sight of the silver-white castle in the distance gave him hope. However, his joy was short-lived as he saw an armed man running towards him.
The man's name was Namjoon, the Queen's grandson, the young lord who was kind-hearted and had the potential to be a great leader, even a king. Namjoon brought Jin to their stronghold where all young soldiers trained and lived. It was a place teeming with life and energy.
Jin couldn't shake off his anger towards the creatures that had taken everything away from him. Anthropos was ruled by Queen Aurora after her husband, the King, had passed away. But Jin couldn't help but wonder if Namjoon would make an even better ruler. The last Queen had a strong personality, he remembered—a woman who knew the rules of the world and the otherworldly creatures.
