An unbelieving World War 2 Allied Officer finds out that he was killed after saving an innocent civilian under his care from unscrupulous elements in uniform. The prospect turns to be bleak for any kind of afterlife given his circumstance in matter...
"I got the unsettling feeling of getting pushed out of a tunnel with light at the end of it. Then to my surprise and disappointment, I was actually reborn as a babe again to a new world. This was not mentioned to me by Neit before! Still, here I thought that I was to walk into a new realm as a grown up person. I guess this gives me time to prepare for my heroic tasks."
"Damn, I can't see a thing clearly, like everything is in a haze of black and white. If I can recall, babies cannot fully use their eyes yet until they are at least half a year old. This feels good, I can breathe or is it crying on what I'm doing? Oh wait what's this I'm hearing? It sounds similar to Irish, it can't be! Or do we share the same language in another world? Wait they are naming me, is that the voice of my father in this world? He sounds a bit young, anyway my name is Caoimhín Liam Speir. Nice it's similar to my old name, boy what are the odds, eh? Now I feel hungry, no wait does that mean I need to breastfeed!"
"Oh, is this the touch of my mother in this world, she has a nice smell. I can't wait to see her in 6 months time with my own eyes! I now humbly receive your milk mother, yum!"
"Gasp! I did not know that I am capable of such involuntary actions, sorry for the poop, folks. Let me just sleep for a bit. So drowsy now...zzz."

1567 Waterford, Hibernia (One month later)
I arrived into this new mortal realm on the same day with the pitiful human soldier called Kevin Grimes, now called under a new name as Caoimhín Liam Speir. I am to serve as his custodian Valkyrie and at the same time judge over his deeds if they are fit to be called as a heroic deed. My other instruction from my superiors is to ensure that he is well guarded until he is mature enough to engage into his 12 heroic tasks. Or eliminate him should he fail to an extreme degree on his obligations as stipulated on his divine contract. I have yet to reconnect with the other Valkyries in this world, but I'm sure it will not be a pleasant affair as we tend to be too clannish for our tastes.
Though I can switch between my spirit form and an actual body as there is a fair amount of spiritual energy in the surroundings though not that high in concentration, which I can use to an extent in emergencies. In the time being, I disguised myself as a maid in the service of house Speir to better keep a tab on my mortal ward.

He might have questions about this world and some of the similarities with his old one, but that is for another time. Duties entailed on my employment in the Speir manor is to focus mainly with the welfare of my ward. On my impressions the master of the house, Baron Ivar Flaith Colm Speir, is very hardworking and a well meaning lord. Hence he was rarely seen in the estate at times. So my focus goes to the lady of the house, the Baroness Mael Aisling Speir, who appears to be a scholar and quite the busybody as she tries to revive the old arts of druid magic in their domain. I have no interest in such mortal pursuits as my source of power like all mythic and divine beings comes from a higher spiritual plane. Quite frankly magic is nothing more that an inferior bootleg version of spiritual powers and quite frowned upon by beings such as myself. This system of power that humans try to crave for is quite inefficient and grimy, which originates from the dark realms.
