Ink was definitely in a panic.
After the ‘defeating the destroyer’ fiasco, the rumor that someone powerful had come to save them from all their problems had been created—a god of sorts. Ink was mortified when he heard the rumor.
He was spread out on the ground in Blue’s living room. The others were sitting on the couch, Dream looked concerned and Blue looked confused. Sketch was honestly just there, doing his typical ‘worried but doesn’t want to show it for some reason’ behavior.
His face was troubled, a purple square and blue diamond. “I’m not a god…” Ink mumbled absent-mindedly.
“Uhh..Dream what is he talking about?” Blue asked, confusion clear in his voice. Dream looked tired, he was leaning against the couch.
Dream sighed before explaining, “Y’know how people see Error as some sort of god of destruction? After hearing about his battle and Ink, they assumed he’s a god too.”
“But Error isn’t a god either? He’s just some guy!” Ink grumbled, crossing his arms.
“Ink, Error isn’t just ‘some guy’, he’s a very powerful being.” Dream reminded, staring at Ink tiredly.
Ink is silent for a moment before responding. “Okay, yeah, he’s a guy with power, still a guy to me.” Ink pouted like a child, “Neither of us are gods!”
Dream sighed again, and Blue decided to finally speak up. “You aren’t a god sure, but you guys are still pretty powerful, that will make people assume certain things.”
Ink narrowed his eyes at the ceiling, “But why assume that? Even if I was a god, I’d be a pretty bad one at that. I mean, I haven’t even been here for the Au’s in years!” Ink was clearly distressed.
Dream and Blue shared a glance before Dream slowly moved to the ground next to Ink. “Hey, it’s okay. Like you said, you’re not a god, it’s not your fault.” Dream reassured him. Ink moved his gaze from the ceiling to Dream, he smiled softly. “Thanks, Dream, you’re a good friend.”
Blue joins them on the ground, a large smile on his face, “that he is.”
Dream looked surprised before a huge smile fell onto his face, “thanks guys…”
Dream had that expression on his face for a few seconds before he paused, seemingly remembering something. He tapped Blue on the shoulder, whispering to him after grabbing his attention. After hearing Dream’s words Blue lit up in excitement.
They turn to Ink at the same time. Dream looked nervous but otherwise as excited as Blue. “Ink, we would like to ask you something?”
Ink was confused, however, their excitement reflected onto him, “Hm? What is it?”
Dream smiled softly, “You are aware that our duo is known as the ‘Star Sanses’, correct? Well, Blue and I had a conversation.” Dream grabs Ink’s hand gently.
“We hope that you’ll agree to make this duo a trio.”
Ink blinks for a few moments before realizing what he means. His face immediately brightens, and he leaps up and pulls the other two into a tight hug.
Ink is very unaware of his strength apparently because he somehow managed to lift both Dream and Blue(who are taller than he is) above him in his really tight hug. He looked so happy, the previous dilemma already forgotten.
“Yes! Yes! Yes!” He kept repeating to his friends and now(hopefully) teammates.
He started to literally twirl in happiness, taking his friends with him. He continued to do this until he suddenly froze. He dropped his friends from his arm quickly, they looked over at him in concern, not understanding the sudden change.
He spat out ink, again.
Dream blinked several times before sighing, “I forgot he did that…”
Blue looked at the new mess, “I’ll bring out the mops!”

Nightmare sat in his currently empty office.
He was staring at his desk blankly, unsure of what to think.
Ink was back. He wasn’t dead.
But how? Sure he was a tough cookie, Nightmare could give him that, but enough to stay alive after all these years? How could that be possible?
Nightmare’s eyes widened as he came to a reasonable conclusion.
That isn’t Ink at all!
He sat up straighter when he continued to ponder about it.
It made sense, Ink was literally killed. Sure, he doesn’t know exactly what killed him, but he doubts anyone knows, even Ink. Then again, the last battle could be enough to prove that he was still alive.
However, there was an explanation he came up with.
Clearly, however the impostor was, they’re powerful. They were enough to beat Error. He doubted the Ink he knew could fight someone like him. Ink was a pretty passive guy, he wasn’t exactly known to pick fights. He was sure that the fact he’s never actually seen Ink fight with his powers was irrelevant. The point was that if the person who’s claiming to be Ink was powerful enough for that feat, then they could possibly create an illusion or another form. It was possible they found out about Ink through an ancient book or another form, after all, he used to be the most known monster in the whole multiverse.
This just made him grit his teeth, his tentacles coiling in anger and annoyance.
If he figured this out so easily, how could Dream let this fake fool him? Perhaps his brother is more of a fool than he thought. How could he accept Ink’s return so easily? No. He had to be disguising himself as his role model, Nightmare just had to figure out why Ink specifically. He’d reveal his true identity and prove Dream is a fool.
He was determined. He’d show them all wrong. No matter what I'd take.

Nightmare is in his delusional era lol.
Also there’s a new cover for this story! :)
