It was qualifying day at the paddock which I had been dragged along to but i'm not complaining as much as I normally would because if i wasn't here right now i'd be stuck in that hotel room unable to escape pictures of me and Nick which are spread across all social media platforms.

"How was your date last night?" Max nudged me as we walked through the paddock.

"It wasn't a date." I corrected him, "It was just saying final goodbyes."

Max just looked down at me not believing a word I was saying, but i'm a terrible liar so I didn't expect much.
"What are you doing today." I ask changing the subject.

"Racing." He responded with a smile.

"Haha." I slowly pronounce glaring at him, "Racing for what?"

"Our positions."

"I think people who come last should start at the front." I propose as we walk threw the garage and into his private room.

"Why is that?" Max laughed as he pulled up his race suit and doing it all the way up instead of his usual style of around the waist.

"To give them more of a chance." I nodded, "Poor Alex has no chance against you."

"That's his problem." Max laughed again as we walked over to his car where we said goodbye and I made my way over to my seat for the race.

Max came first in qualifying with Charles in second followed by Danny in third and I didn't care to remember the rest. To celebrate the three of us went out for lunch which was nice.
When I got back to the hotel I changed into a black body suit covered by a white zip up hoodie and headed down to the gym. My wrist had been broken for three weeks now and I can feel it getting stronger everyday which means everyday is a day closer to getting out of here and back to my gym.

When inside I started with with some cardio to warm up followed by my stretch routine, pushing myself further than usual since there are new limitations on what I can do. After a short core work out I take a seat to have some water whilst I open my phone to scroll threw social media. This is where I see my rival Louisa Coatridge doing a double layout and landing in a splits.

I make my way over to the long line of empty mats and stretch for the second time today. After I stand there contemplating wether or not I should attempt it. I can do one I've done loads in the past but never landed in the splits. The only problem is my wrist however it's only on the floor for a maximum of five seconds at a time if I do it fast enough. I raise my arms up in the air and take in a deep breathe just about to take off before I'm interrupted.

"I hope your not planning on doing a cartwheel or whatever." I look over my shoulder to see Lando stood with his arms cross and his brows tied together in confusion.

"Why does it bother you?" I answer I turn back to face the mats.

"Because there's no one else in here." He says, making me look around to see the abandoned gym and then up at the big clock on the wall which said it was one in the morning, "So when you break your wrist again I'd have to be the one to take you to the hospital."

"Like you'd do that anyway." I scoff.

"Don't get me wrong I don't particularly like you but I wouldn't just leave you with a broke bone Maddie."

"I won't hurt my wrist, it's on the ground for like five seconds." I tell him looking back over my shoulder.

"Maddie your not doing it."

"And how are you gonna stop me?" I ask but then cringe at how it sounded like I was trying to be flirty and he clearly felt the same as it went deadly silent. "Leave me alone." I clear my throat to try and ease the tension.

I look back down at the mats and back at my wrist, Lando is probably right. But I can't let him know that I can give him another win.

"Is there anything you can do without arms?" He asks catching me off guard as I turn back to stare at him in confusion as I think this was the first time he spoke to me showing any signs of interest and his words had no underlying tone to it. "Is not possible or something?" He asked another question clearly becoming a bit embarrassed by the way I was looking at him which did not change with his follow up question.

"No, uh, I mean yeah there is." I say cautious of the strange situation im in.

"Is everything okay?"

"Huh?" He snapped me out my thoughts, "Yes. Yes everything is good. Uh what did you- front aerial yes okay."

"Front what?-"

I cut Lando off by performing a front aerial with a perfect landing and with my hands firmly in the air from muscle memory. I look over at Lando who was staring in shock.

"See what I do is impressive." I smile as I walk back over to him, "Unlike some people who play with toy cars for a living."

"What is that supposed to mean?" He asks screwing his face up again.

"What I do requires skill."

"So does being a race driver," He snapped back, "You try being in that car with all them layers on going at that speed."

"No, thanks." I smile at him.

"See exactly."

"No, I don't think it would be hard." I respond taking a sip from my drink, "Just boring."

"What and someone jumping in the air isn't?"

"You we're literally just impressed." I scoff, "And i've watched a race, and it was the most boring thing i've ever witness, i'd rather watch paint dry."

"Fine, I'll prove it to you." He shrugged going to collect all his equipment.

"Prove what?" I ask as I tilt my head in confusion.

"Prove being a racer drive is more fun then a gymnast." Lando answered standing back in front of me with a spark in his eye.

"That's funny." I dryly stay but his position doesn't falter, "How?"

"There's a simulator-"

"No." I cut him off seeing that spark fade a little. "I'm not going."

"Why scared i'll prove you wrong." He smirks at me.

"No it's just-" I stop myself from saying anymore. I can't let this guy know that if my dad would see us together he would loose his shit. "I can't."

Lando didn't say anything he just stared at me with a weird look so I took a step back and put some distance between us. "Is this 'cause of your boyfriend?" He scoffed after a couple seconds of silence.

"What?" I look up to him so confused with what he was saying, "Norris, I don't have a boyfriend. I just don't want to go and there doesn't have to be an excuse for that."

"Whatever." He spat before storming out of the gym.
