I awoke to see a mirror,
A mirror to my soul.
I saw my soul, brilliantly lit,
But shrouded in deep darkness,
Darkness, which sought to extinguish my light.I struggled against the shadow,
Asking desperately why I had to fight,
Had I not only done what was right?I saw my painful death,
A sacrifice, for the greater good.
Accused of doing the right thing, I cried,
"Then why the shadow? I was promised light!"But then the mirror showed me,
consequences, of actions I thought noble,
Mothers mourning sons, and fathers mourning daughters.Tears sprung from my eyes,
And I let them fall,
Letting those few tears,
wash away the darkness of war.
