For the next two years Cassidy didn't stop thinking about her friends or Rafe but she stopped texting and calling them they had lives and they all needed to move on she didn't talk to Rafe since she left his house and she didn't plan on it

She made friends she finished high school she turned 19 all without them which she never thought she would do Outer Banks was her forever it was her home it had her people

But it was finally time for Cassidy to go back home to her friends and to Rafe

As soon as Cassidy passed the welcome to outer banks she smiled she could see the ocean the one she swim in every day all summer the one she learned how to surf by JJ she could see all the shops and the docks she would take walks on with Rafe when they got bored

It felt so surreal she didn't know she would be back but here she was back in her home town about to see her best friend and her crew her family

The jeep stopped outside the Chateau she felt everything flood back the memories the happiness even sad parts like her last night in outer banks she honks the horn after a few seconds JJ and John B walk out they look so different John B has longer hair and is taller and JJ's skin darkened up a tiny bit and he got taller too

As soon as JJ sees Cassidy he smiled and walked a tiny bit closer and opened his arm signaling for her to hug him so she ran to him and he pick her up and help her there till the door opens to reveal Kie and Sarah making Cassidy confused as JJ sets her down "Cassie Sarah and me are dating and JJ and Kie are dating" John B announces as Sarah smiles at Cassidy making her smile "Hey long time no see" Kie says as she hugs Cassidy then releases her telling John b it's his turn

As soon as the hugs were out of the way questions pilled in making Cassidy need a minute to sit down on the porch

"How was Florida" JJ asks right as Cassidy sits down making her give him a look to slow down "Good I mean other then sitting inside and doing nothing for a month till school started again" Cassidy explains as she takes a sip on the beer John B handed her before she sat down "How did you get so thin and tan" Kie says pointing out Cassidy's skinny arms and waist "Oh um nothing just started eating healthy and more time in the sun schools there are outside other then the classrooms like the hallways are outside" Cassidy says after taking a minute to think "Where's Pope" Cassidy blurts out trying to change the subject "He's at his dads he has a shift today and he's in trouble for skipping work two days ago to go on the boat with us" John B explains as Sarah glances at the necklace Cassidy was still wearing

The gold necklace Rafe gave her the one with his name on it the one that meant the world to Cassidy she was still wearing it

After about an hour of talking mostly JJ talking about surfing and the crazy stories from parties and school Cassidy decides to go on a drive for a little maybe go see pope

As she stops at the grocery store she plays with her necklace thinking for a moment about how much she missed JJ's ranting about how he didn't do good on one wave or John B messing with his bandanna around his neck or Kie just cutting into JJ's stories

She finally gets out of the car and walks in making a list in her head not paying attention to where she was going as she walks to the fruit isle she bumps into someone "I'm sorry" she quickly lets out before looking up

Her eyes meet with the blue eyes she missed so much "Cas" Rafe lets out making her hold her breath "Rafe" she says as she explains him

He was a tiny bit taller his hair shaved off and he looked nice like he just came back from the country club she just looked at him not knowing the world was still moving without her but he didn't care it was Cassidy his first love his Cassidy

"Rafe" A girl says making Cassidy snap back to reality and even maybe Rafe too "Oh hey who are you" The girl says making Cassidy smile out of instincts "Cassidy her name is Cassidy" Rafe says as he slowly takes his eyes off Cassidy then to the girl "Hello I'm Sofia Rafes girlfriend" She says making Cassidy look at Rafe quickly then back at Sofia "Hi" Cassidy says quickly then grabs her necklace playing with it making Rafe look at her necklace then back to Cassidy "I'll be back babe I'm gonna go grab some cups" Sofia says then walks away

"Your hair" Cassidy says making Rafe touch his hair "Oh yeah shaved it it got to much to the care of" He says making Cassidy snap out of it "She's nice she seems like a good person" She blurts out making Rafe eye Cassidy "Yeah she's a good person helped me a lot" He said making Cassidy give him a look but stop knowing it's not her place anymore

Wow it's not her place anymore something is didn't really realize she didn't really expect it to be it's been two years but it wasn't her place it wasn't anymore

"I gotta go" Cassidy says then turns around and hops back in her Jeep making Rafe give her a look but she didn't care she didn't want to just stand there and think she needed to go to the beach the one place she could think

The waves crashed against the sand as Cassidy just sat there looking at the water

She always thought Rafe would wait for her to get back but she couldn't blame him he didn't know she would come back she didnt even say goodbye she just left she left crying but didn't even say a word to Sarah she didn't say a word to Weezie who consider Cassidy as a sister she didn't say anything to John B or Pope or Kie she only told Rafe and JJ but she didn't tell Rafe bye she just left
