Potions class was unbearable with Snape judging everyone's work. What makes everything worse is he picked our partners, and I got stuck with Mattheo Riddle. And it's not for this class only — no. Snape decided to torture us by having these partners for the rest of the year, since apparently we can't be trusted.

All it took was Harry Potter arguing with Draco Malfoy for the fifth time in one period. Merlin knows what they were arguing about, but it resulted in a bloody nose and a black eye.

Lucky for me, I guess. Now I'm stuck with a guy who tries to check his reflection in the damn potion to make sure his hair looks good for the rest of fucking school year.

Genuinely, I thought he'd be somewhat intelligent. I'm not saying he's not smart, but if he was, he's certainly not showing it. This became routine for the next two weeks, where I'd do most of the work, whilst perfect little Riddle stands there and pretends to contribute.

"That doesn't look right. Are you sure you're doing it correctly?" He asked, peering over at the cauldron in front of me. I sneered at him in response, looking up at him. "How about you do it instead of instigating?"

I earned an eye roll from the curly-head, so I just assumed he was sticking to his routine of not doing shit. Riddle's gaze stayed on me — hopefully thinking about the ways I was going to force him to do something sooner or later. When I turned to look at him, he let out a frustrated sigh and pulled me out of the way, getting to work.

"Took you long enough," I groaned, sitting down on a nearby stool. He scoffed, mixing the potion. I watched as he finished the last half of the potion with precision and skill, not looking at the board once. He seemed to memorize the potion, and I observed in awe.

My eyes seemed to land on the multiple rings on both of his hands, a silver ring with a 'M' engraved on it captured my eye particularly. Mattheo glanced once, a soft grin appearing on his face when he turned around.

Finally, the last day of classes for the week arrived. People were laughing around me, excited for the weekend. I didn't pay anyone any mind, peacefully eating my breakfast. Sometimes I wondered why it takes so long for them to feed us. Or maybe it just feels long.

Anyhow, an unfamiliar owl swooped down in front of me, a package hanging on its claws. I put my fork down, reaching over towards it to unwrap the package. The owl was simply gorgeous, and quite the opposite from my own owl, Athena.

My owl was pure white — her feathers a thick coat of snow around it. This owl on the other hand, had black feathers and bright green eyes. Once I untied the package, the owl flew off.

Curiously, I opened it, revealing a chain with a familiar ring on it. It was the same ring that was resting on Mattheo's finger yesterday. I smiled softly, opening the letter next.

'Dear L/N ,

I sincerely hope you didn't think you were being sneaky, pretending to not watch my hands the entire time. I saw your gaze wander on this ring specifically, which so happens to be my favorite. You'd look rather gorgeous with my initial on your neck. - Mattheo Riddle.'

I finished reading the letter, a light tint on my cheeks as I looked back at the Slytherin table, Mattheo already looking at me with a genuine smile.

Word count: 610 ! Let's just ignore how I haven't posted since December...I just had no clue what to write about. Since many people were requesting Mattheo, I decided to make a Dracotok classic since it was short and easy to write. My motivation has always been horrid, so I apologize if my posting hasn't been consistent! Hope you enjoyed. — angie <3
