A Human Among Navi

Chapter 3

I sat on my knees with my hand restrained behind my back as one of the avatar's gripped me by the back of my hair braid, a small hiss emitting from me every time he would pull or tug, Till an avatar came over. His short hair faded slightly at the sides and his eyebrows furrowed as he smirked down at me, he wore a black tank top with a vest on top and some camo shorts. His gun in hand as he crouched to my level and put the gun under my chin before tilting my head up to look him in the eye while the boy was being held back by a different avatar. The man stared down at me and motioned another avatar over.

"Lyle. Take a look at this."

Another avatar came over, his head was bald and he wore a pair of shades that sat on his forehead.

"Another damn kid? Jesus Christ do people ever stop reproducing?"

The man scoffed as he looked at me to which I glared at him in response.

"At least I don't look like mr clean."

One of the woman soldiers standing nearby chuckled at my comment, she had tattoos on her arm and her hair in somewhat of a mini Mohawk style that connected to her natural braided queue.

"I like her."

The man silenced the both and furrowed his brows as he looked at me closely.

"Who are your parents kid."

I stayed silent as I glared at him, my brows furrowed and my fists clenched behind my back before one of the soldiers tugged my hair making me hiss in pain.

"I'll be nice once. Then I won't. So let me ask you again. Who. Are. Your. Parents."

"I don't know okay?! Honest!"

He glared and my hair was pulled on again before the boy shouted at him to stop. The man stared at me before motioning to the soldier to let me go to which he hesitated but eventually released me. I stood up and dusted myself off to which the boy walked over and checked to make sure I was alright, I however just huffed and slightly brushed him off to let him know I was fine. While the group of avatars continued looking around I was forced to sit with the boy as he tossed rocks.

"I'm spider by the way."

I nodded somewhat dismissively as I fidgeted with my braclets.

"cool."

He looked over at me and nudged with his elbow

"What's up?"

"Nothing."

"Yeah okay sure. C'mon you can tell me."

"I said it's nothing."

his brows furrowed as he stopped tossing rocks

"What's your deal? Why are you acting like a dick?"

My head snapped over to look at him in disbelief as I scoffed.

"What you think I'm supposed to be nice to a boy on the enemy side?"

He glared at me a little as i stood up and got up from where we sat, walking a bit into the forest with frustration clear in my body language and tone while he got up and quickly followed after me.

"I'm not with them Y'know."

"Oh really? Cause I find that hard to believe."

"I'm being serious!"

"Oh yeah because I'm supposed to just believe you, while you walk around Nilly Willy with them!

"It's not like I have a choice! If I try to run away they can easily find me and bring me back!"

I stayed silent as I stared at him, my eyes squinting as I approached him before stopping to just stand in front of him and stare. My brows furrowed with suspicion as I looked him up and down before turning back around with a huff.

"Hmph.."

he stood clueless before chuckling and following after me.

"Your small as shit."

"Fuck off."

I rolled my eyes as I walked ahead and grabbed onto a vine before he nudged me aside and took it from my hand.

"Watch and learn ape"

he grinned before going down the vine,  making me roll my eyes and scoff before dropping down from it beside him with a small thud as my feet hit the forest floor.

"Show off."

We both snickered until Our moment was interrupted by the sounds of multiple people shouting.

"Shit...they're looking for us."

I frowned until I heard a small helicopter in the distance and looked over to see max's helicopter. My eyes widening as I turned to look back at the boy who had also seen the aircraft. He glanced back down at me with wide eyes as I looked up at him with pleading eyes.

"Please...let me go...you can come with me!"

He stared for a bit before he heard gunshots somewhere behind us and immediately grabbed my arm to take off running with me over to max's helicopter making me yelp as I was pulled along before I got the hint and started running with him while he held my upper arm tightly in his grip. Once we were near we stopped at a small yet deep ditch in the ground and before I could react he grabbed me and tossed me across making me scream. I sat up and quickly motioned for him to hurry only for him to just stare at me. Confused I kept motioning for him to hurry only for him to toss me a necklace he had in his pocket.

"A-aren't you coming?!"

I questioned with concern laced in my voice as he shook his head with a small sympathetic smile

"They'll find me somehow. I can't Risk anything."

"But- what about you?"

"I'll be fine okay kid? Those assholes won't hurt me. Just go while you still can!"

I stared at him, my eyes welling with tears before I nodded and ran to the helicopter.

"If anyone asks! My name is spider!"

I smiled sadly with a small chuckle as I ran, wiping my tears before I made it to the helicopter and bumped into max who got me inside without hesitation upon seeing me. As i buckled myself in he got into the pilots seat and not long apart we took off just as spider and the recon team Arrived in our area.

"You okay honey?"
