Hangout at Harry's

The week seemed to have gone by in a blur, or at least, in Andrew's opinion, it did. It was actually a surprise to him when Friday arrived, finally, and the school week was almost up. That week had gone a lot better for him than he had thought it would on Monday, and his mood was substantially better, even if he was still just as confused about who he was as when the week had begun. He was in such a good mood, that he had forgotten all about his conversation with Kelsey, and his promise to go to his friends' hangout by the time Friday finally came along.

As Andrew was sitting down for a nice morning breakfast, his phone vibrated slightly in his pocket. Now, Andrew had carefully sorted his contacts, giving them each their own unique vibration, so he could always know who was texting him. The fact that he shared a phone with Kelsey, however, had thrown something of a wrench in his perfect organization method: Kelsey was always messing with the notification sounds, and frequently changed her friends' noises just because she felt like it. Because of this, when the phone let out its notification, Andrew was not completely sure who the message was from.

"Well," he thought to himself, "it can't be Jason, his noise is a lot higher than this is... and it can't be John or Randy, since I don't have their numbers..."

Andrew was about to go through a mental list of every person or company that had his number, until his phone vibrated a few more times, and he decided that it was best to not keep whoever was trying to reach him waiting. Once he picked up the phone, he noticed at once that the message came from Harry's sister, Chloe. She had seemed to be trying to reach Kelsey, but then realized that it was Andrew's day with the phone.

"Hey Kels," Chloe's message read, "when are you and Drew planning on arriving at school today? Just checking because Harry is worried that Andrew's gonna find some way to skip out on the hangout, even though he said he'd come."

There were a few minutes between the first message and the next one, which read: "Oops. Sorry Andrew, I forgot that Kelsey doesn't have the phone today. Should have remembered that, and directed that text towards you. Kinda awkward, but you're not planning on skipping the party-thing Harry has planned, right? When you messaged telling him that you were going to be there, his drive went to maximum power, since the guys haven't seen you for a few weeks. You're doing okay with you-know-what, right?"

Andrew sighed. Of course he had forgotten about his promise to be at the hangout, it was a good thing Chloe had messaged him, or else he might have been forced to fess up to Jason or Harry about this. He brainstormed up a quick reply to Chloe before he actually paid much thought to what he was saying.

"No worries Chloe," he sent, "you can tell Harry that I'll be there, and that's that. Between you and me though, I nearly forgot! Thanks for reminding me about the hangout, I might have been forced into an awkward situation if you hadn't, lol! About you-know what though? I'm doing, that's about all I can say, since I'm still confused. Thanks for checking in, I guess."

Andrew read over the message again, then smacked himself in the face for sending it already. Did he really just act so friendly towards not only his sister's best friend but also his best friend's sister? It wasn't that he didn't like her or anything, just the opposite, in fact. Andrew adored Chloe, she was always kind and accepting of anyone, and even before Andrew had fallen into despair and pessimistic introspection, he had always admired and appreciated that. He was way too scared to actually let on that fact, however, mainly because of Harry, but also out of respect for Kelsey. He didn't want to take her best friend away from her, which he was sure would happen, even if she didn't like him, if he ever told Chloe that he liked her.

Andrew finished his breakfast in silence, and waited for Kelsey to get out of the shower, so that they could finally get to school for the day. Once she got out, Kelsey was energetic and nearly insufferable, however, as she kept trying to get Andrew to talk about his feelings, which she'd been doing more and more often since their heart-to-heart on Monday. Andrew was actually thankful when they finally got to school, and he was cornered by Harry and Jason, who both wanted to talk about the hangout, as well as any comics they happened to have read over the week.
