The story goes as such; there once were 2 power-house familia in Orario, the Zeus and Hera familias.
One member of the Zeus familia was much stronger than the rest, and was one of the strongest adventurers in Orario. The captain of the Zeus familia, known only as the 'Argonaut' (sometimes 'Argo' to those close to him). He had a name, but he didn't use it. No one did, as almost no one even knew it.
He had piercing blue eyes that seemed to spark and flash when one looked at them for too long, like lightning, and completely white hair that went down past his chin. He had a fair build and a face that might once have been considered 'cute', but now was stuck in a permanent look that seemed very out of place on someone like him. It was as if he was always suspicious, always alert, and always... angry. Almost like a permanent scowl. He also had many scars all over his body, and a gouge on his left cheek. He exuded an aura of power and restlessness.
In his younger years, he was found to be quite cute. Even then, with his scarred face and downright scary demeanor, he was still sometimes found to be cute by those unfamiliar with who they were looking at. But no one who knew of his deeds and exploits made that mistake. He was known to be merciless to both monsters and humanoids, slaying monsters on his own that took anyone else a party of four to fight, and having fought Evilus on multiple occasions, but they were now thought to be extinct, due to the work of 'Argo' and several familia.
Based off this description, many people throughout Orario assumed a lot of things of the 'Argonaut'. What nobody assumed was that he was now a simple family man. He had a newborn son, and a beautiful and strong wife. He only kept adventuring due to his allegiance to Zeus and a desire for power that would protect his family from even... it.
He knew about the dragon, of course, many in the Zeus and Hera familia did. However, it felt more personal for the 'Argo'. Both the Zeus and Hera familias had run-ins with the dragon before, and there were casualties for both familia. Due to how similar the familia were (they were both high level adventuring guilds, known for exploring the deep floors) and how often they worked together, they were almost just one familia. So when one familia lost members, it was felt not only by the two familia, but across Orario. These two familia were known to be the strongest in Orario, if not the world, so their members became revered and loved all over. The deaths were mounting for both familia, so a plan was formed one day.
The expedition was highly funded, and was assisted by many different familia. Blacksmiths from all over came to forge, alchemists brewed, adventurers set out to get as many monster items and drops they could, while the two familia and those going with them trained endlessly. It was during this time we meet our main character, Bell.
Bell was born as the son of 'Argo' and his wife, the captain of the Hera familia. They had met shortly after arriving in Orario, while both were searching for a familia to join. Bell's mother had long, dark hair and was much more friendly and open than her husband. Many people wondered how they ended up so close, and 'Argo' himself often wondered as well, but there was something that had drawn the two to each other, despite their very different demeanors.
During the time leading up the expedition, and even before, Bell had spent quite a bit of time with Zeus. He was a baby, and some one had to watch him during the days of intense training and recovery. The couple had tried to split the time Zeus and Hera watched Bell (since his mother was quite close to Hera), but quickly gave up. Bell was simply calmer and happier around his "grandpa".
Everyone familiar with the history of Orario knows the next part. The expedition set off, with the entirety of the city sending them off. The party descended into the dungeon with high hopes, aiming to reach floor 100 and slay the dragon. This is not what happened.
Zeus was in his room at the manor, putting Bell into his crib (newborn Bell enjoyed being around Zeus so much he had his own crib in Zeus' own room) when he felt it. All gods could feel the loss of their children, and he had felt it before. It wasn't an uncommon feeling. What was, however, was how deep and painful it seemed to be this time in particular. It almost burned at his chest, going on for half an hour, and when it was finally gone, so was that feeling he had come to take for granted. The gods could sense their children, and did so constantly. But when the burning sensation was done, he felt nothing. He felt cold and empty, and no matter how hard he tried he couldnt get a read on even a single one of his children. He sat there, silent and motionless, until his door busted open, revealing Hera, tears streaming down her face. Getting one look of each other and the state they were in, their fears were confirmed. The two gods, once the leaders of the 2 strongest familia, broke down and wept.

The next day, it was officially confirmed. Every person who went into the dungeon that day was killed. Many gods mourned the loss of their children, and the general population wept for their friends and family. And some gods saw and chance, and seized it.
Several gods leading some of the strongest familia banded together to plot against Zeus and Hera. "They sent our children and families to their deaths!""They were reckless, sending so few people to fight that monster!" Of course they didn't know how powerful this monster was, and that it didnt matter how many people were sent. The dragon was simply too strong, and the adventurers of Orario simply too weak.
Zeus and Hera were banished only days after the slaughter of their children. Hera chose to ascend back to the heavens, not being able to accept losing her children and being banished. Zeus, however, didn't have that option. The day he was banished, he took a few belongings and his only remaining child, and left Orario forever. He would never return, not even if he was allowed to. It would simply hurt too much.
So Zeus went off, traveling the lands by wagon and his own two feet. He hunted to feed himself, and mashed berries for the still very young Bell. Zeus didn't know where he would end up, or what the future held, but no matter what, he was going to train Bell. He would teach the boy to fight and protect.
Because within the deep red iris' of the young Bell, there could be seen the occasional flashes and flickers of piercing blue.

AN:
Yo, whats up. Few things I wanna talk about. First, this is my second story. I wrote a different Danmachi fic called "Ais X Bell - Rabbit's Revenge" under the name BellSpeedBunny, but I lost access to that account and the gmail behind it, so that story is done. Second, this will be based on the anime as I haven't read the manga or LN, and will probably end up as more mature towards later chapters. For now, I won't mark it as 'mature', but if I end up going down that route ill make sure its known before hand. Third, I havent read any Danmachi fic in years really, so if this story has similar story beats, plot points, title, anything like that, it wasnt intentional. And lastly, yes I will be changing the story of Danmachi quite a bit in order to make the story more to my liking. Also, feel free to correct me if I misspell something, use the wrong title for something, anything like that. I havent been invested in the fandom in years. Anyways, have a great day, and peace!
The way I wrote this, and im not sure how well itll come across, is kind of like a historical text. A retelling of a story from a third party.

Argonauts Heir
FantasyWhat if instead of having the Argonaut ability, Bell was the argonaut reborn, a man of legend born into tragedy? I think pairing will be BellxAis, but that's not set in stone quite yet. Might add Ryuu in there too. Feel free to give suggestions for...
