It had been a week or so since Tam had to move into the Neverseen's base. And Tam actually felt... comfortable here.

He decorated his room with Rayni, and they had fun, messing about as they did it. And Tam was going to get his first mission to complete soon. So, Tam was thrilled about all of this.

Tam let out a sigh of content as he sat down on his bed, laying back and staring at the ceiling. Tam let his eyes rest for a few moments but his eyes shot wide open when there was a loud and slightly frantic knock on his bedroom door.

"Uh, come in!" Tam called, sitting up and looking towards the entrance of his room.
The door opened and Keefe entered the room, shutting the door behind him. Tam furrowed his eyebrows as Keefe had a huge bag over his shoulder which seemed to be filled with quite a few things.

"... Are you going camping or something?" Tam blinked, looking at Keefe.
Keefe bit his lower lip as he set his bag down from his shoulder onto the ground.
"Not exactly." Keefe smiled at Tam.
"Uhm... W-we need to talk."

Keefe made his way over to Tam and he sat down beside the Shade. Tam shuffled in his seat, turning to face Keefe.
"Are you running away or something?" Tam joked, grinning at Keefe.
Tam's face dropped when he saw that Keefe didn't give him a smile back or rolled his eyes at Tam's comment.
"W-wait, you- you can't be serious." Tam frowned, furrowing his eyebrows.
"You said that I'd have you here-"

"Tam, I want you to run away with me." Keefe stated, cutting Tam off before he could get frustrated.
"I know that this is out of the blue, but I don't want to be my mother's toy anymore. I don't want to pretend to be Sophie's boyfriend. I want to... I want to be happy and do things for myself."
Tam blinked at Keefe and Keefe bit his lower lip.
"I--we don't have much time. I placed my letters in my mother's office and Rayni's room to say goodbye. If you want to come with me, grab Sir Erebus, some clothes and let's go and-!"

"No."

Keefe looked at Tam blankly. Keefe looked into Tam's eyes, seeing how his eyes watered.
"What?" Keefe frowned.
Tam wrapped his arms around his own waist.
"Keefe... I-I finally found a place to call 'home'." Tam stated, frowning at the blonde.
"And after so many days of feeling like shit and feeling sorry for myself, I found that Rayni is really great company whenever you're not around and... and Keefe, I get to go on a mission soon and... I'm... I'm happy here."

Keefe stayed silent for a few moments.
"... Tam, it may seem nice so far, but... my mother, she... she can be nice majority of the time but there are times where she will... she will threaten you, she will manipulate you, and she will... she will harm you. Worse than just scratching your shoulder." Keefe stated, reaching his hand over towards Tam's shoulder, the one which was injured before.
"I don't want you to be hurt again. And Tam, I don't want to do this alone."

Tam stared at Keefe.
"You seemed so willing to follow along your mother's plan when I first joined." Tam stated, his voice quieter than it was before.
"Why...what made you change your mindset of 'mother knows best'?"
Keefe bit his inner cheek.

"Why do you think, Tam?" Keefe sighed out, his voice slightly breaking.
"Hanging out with you, being with you, has been... has been wonderful. And... when my mother harmed you, I--my mindset had changed ever since then. I couldn't deal with the fact that she could hurt someone so beloved to me."

"Keefe, I can handle your mother." Tam scowled.
Keefe slightly frowned as it seemed Tam didn't hear him calling him 'beloved'.
"Can you?" Keefe tilted his head at Tam.
"I know right now you think you can but she can be a vicious person. She may be acting all nice and stuff now but Tam, that is a facade, you know that right?"
Tam gulped and he looked away from Keefe.
