I wake up, on a hard tree branch. Look to my left... Victor is gone... I look everywhere... was it a dream? Was it all a dream? I start tearing up, just by the thought of losing someone yet again... When I hear footsteps, I quickly hide myself more on the branch and look down.
"Ash! Don't be scared, it's only me", Victor said, with a wide smile. I sigh, full of relief. I start climbing down the tree, when my feet hit the ground, I can see all the cuts I got from yesterday... And I can see that Victor noticed the same thing. He looks around and asks: "Did your bag have... by any chance... a med kit?", I shake my head and Victor sighs. I look once more at my cuts, they hurt... they are still bleeding... I guess because of my adrenaline yesterday, I couldn't feel the "full pain".
Victor looks inside his pocket and takes out duct tape. He sighs and says: "This will work, I guess. It's only a short walk, so it won't be for a while". I shake my head and say loudly: "I will not put on duct tape! That's disgusting"
"Well bandages and duct tape do the same effects right?"
"Uhh – "
"They both put pressure on the wound, so you don't bleed out"
"I guess so... but duct tape is just... A no"
"You rather bleed then keep your wounds safe?", I think about it for a second and nod my head. Victor shakes his head: "Stop being a dummy and put on the duct tape, or I'll wrap it"
"Can't we just go there as fast as possible, what if she finds us? She finds me?", Victor sighs and puts the duct tape in his pocket and says: "You asked for it".
Victor starts walking towards the direction we were heading yesterday. I stayed beside the tree, feeling the full pain of my wounds... Victor looked back and asked: "You coming?", I shake my head. He walks back to me and asks: "Something wrong?". I look down at my legs, bleeding and he starts laughing.
"Duct tape?"
"Fine, BUT don't put your fucking dirty hands in the wounds though", He starts wrapping my legs tightly with duct tape. It feels weird. Like I am now a part robot, a part human. Victor with a sigh (probably of proudness) and says: "I did it perfectly"
"Yeah, keep lying to yourself", I started walking away from him and he bursts out laughing.
"Smarty pants we are going here", he points at the apposite direction I was heading to.
I stand and see how Victor starts walking the other direction. I walk fast, I can't run, since it is hard with tightly wrapped duct tape on your legs. I can feel how my stomach is grumbling, and now I am walking beside Victor, trying not to think about food... or the duct tape, or water... Victor takes out his phone, it is honestly a surprise... that he still has the same phone, after he escaped. He sighs and asks: "Did she do anything to you?", I shake my head and he starts tapping on his phone and puts it away.
"Sorry, my friend asked how you were", A friend? Asked him? About me?!... How does he or she know... about me?! Then we saw it... the city.
