You have unspoken immunity
I say 'it's as if nothing can hurt him'
Emotional invincibility
But it may be false, cast in roses and foreign things
In perfection lies purity
Your light is strong, my light feels dim
Paralysed in lunacy
Leaving this level, ascend from the grim
You must acknowledge your privilege
You mustn't be sorry, please be grateful
I hold your words in my rib-cage
It's not your fault, it won't be fatal
Nothing I hear tames rage
Yet boys spit slurs and girls are hateful
I create myself in your image
You are my token, my one earth angel
Paint me in colours like scarlet
The red of your blood is the red of my love
Await me with jewels like garnet
Valuable anchors when my mind's in a flood
Chase me and kill her, that starlet
A hope sings me sorrow, the hope of a dove
I must be God incarnate
For my below is my above
Arrest and disect your heavy words
I hold them close to my heart, I feel
Think of them to pacify my nerves
I eat them everyday, they're my favourite meal
Finally looking up, I see your brown eyes, and curls
I can move on, I can cope, I can heal
This hope is a rarity, a blessing, a pearl
I hope, everyday, that this is all real
