There he is, standing right in front of me. Hyun-Woo smiles before speaking.

"Hello, I see you finally bought that book," he said.

I stood up as tears welled up in my eyes and hugged him. I truly miss him. After all, he is one of my closest friends.

Hyun-Woo chuckled, surprised by my reaction to seeing him.

When we finally sat down, his smile faded quickly, and his gaze shifted to my face. His brow furrowed in surprise.

"What the hell happened to you, Hanni?" his voice was worried and surprised.

I became immediately uneasy. Especially since I appear to be a complete mess. I sighed before telling him what had happened. I had to lie about the part where I got lost in the woods while chasing after Jeon Jungkook's dog.

I simply informed him that there had been a car accident. I felt bad for lying to him, but I didn't have a choice.

We spent some time catching up in the tea shop before it got dark.

Hyun-Woo offered to walk me home since he only lived a few blocks away. He even assisted me with my shopping bags.

It's already dark and getting colder outside. We soon came to a halt just outside our gate.

"Hyun-Woo...thank you...for everything," I said as we faced each other.

He nods and takes a couple of deep breaths.

"It's you I have to thank Hanni.. you have no idea.." Hyun-Woo sighed as his eyes scanned the necklace he gave me that I was wearing.

Then he reached out and touched the pendant with my initial on it.

"I'm glad you like the necklace... You look...beautiful," he muttered, but I can hear him struggling to keep his voice from breaking.

I felt a pang of guilt recalling that night in the park with him. He tried to confess his feelings for me, but I refused. I can't help but feel like I was harsh on him.

"Hyun-Woo..." I reached out to take his hand in mine.

His warmth provides comfort despite the cold air. Not to mention his smile. Not to mention his charming smile. As if I mean everything to him. And seeing us like this breaks my heart.

I had no idea he had fallen in love with me all those years. If only it were that simple to give my heart to him so quickly.

Because Hyun-Woo possesses everything a woman could desire. Despite his good looks, he is a kind, intelligent, respected, caring, and family-oriented person.

I can't return that feeling, no matter how hard I try, because I've always seen him as my big brother, a friend since the first time I met him.

"Get inside before you catch a cold...see you around Hanni." He squeezed my hands and was gone before I knew it.

I took a deep breath.

What's the matter with me?

I was picking up the grocery bags one by one from the floor when I heard a noise coming from the side of the house.

I took a few steps forward and turned to the right side of the house.

It's dark in this section of the street, but I can see someone sitting on the hood of a car before standing up when he sees me.

"E-excuse me who's there?" I feel my body tense as I wait for his response.

I gulped and turned back when he didn't respond.
