Cinder woke up to a loud neighing as Comet threw her and Xeno back. Xeno was quick to wake up and react, as he grabbed Cinder and held her in his arms protectively when they were thrown off the rapidash and heading towards the ground. After they landed roughly, Xeno rolled away from Comet and pushed Cinder away. He then stood up to assess the situation. As he looked south and squinted his eyes, Xeno noticed a rough battle between some Pokemon. He whipped his head back to Cinder. "We're right next to the Ice Kingdom border! There's a battle between the Fire and Ice Kingdom nearby, we have to leave!" he informed. Cinder shook her head and stood up, still recovering from the sudden situation.
"No! I'm not leave Comet here while she's freaking out like this!" she said stubbornly. She was right- Comet was going crazy, kicking her front hooves and shaking her head.
Xeno growled at Cinder's stubborness. "Are you crazy?! Your friend used to be a part of the Fire Kingdom's army, she'll be fine! Not you!" he barked. "We have to leave- WATCH OUT!"
He tried his best to lunge for Cinder before she was attacked, but it was too late. The Frost Breath from a glalie had somehow managed to reach over to Cinder and froze her right arm. She didn't care, however, and continued trying to calm Comet down.
"Ack- Comet! Quit! You have to calm down, get your thoughts straight, and take us to the Dark Kingdom!" she yelled. It didn't work.
Suddenly, Cinder was splashed with water, and she jerked her head around to a vaporeon peaking up from a cold stream of around three-four foot deep water that bordered the Ice Kingdom and Fire Kingdom. The sprayed water had little force to it, so it was likely that the vaporeon wasn't a threat.
It whispered, "Here! Over here!" seemingly trying to get Cinder and Xeno's attention. "I have a place you can hide! Just follow me into the Ice Kingdom!" Then it scampered off into the thick snow of the Ice Kingdom, practically swimming through it.
Without thinking, Cinder took Xeno's hand and pulled him forward to follow the vaporeon. Comet, now at least somewhat calm, followed them in a panicked trot. "What're you doing?!" Xeno said. "Now you've really gone insane! Who follows a stranger into enemy territory?!"
Cinder grunted as she nearly tripped over the snow. "It said that it has a place to hide. It's trying to help us," she said.
"And you- You trust it?! What if it's leading us somewhere bad? Or dangerous?" Xeno replied. "You're way to trusting for your own good!"
"It's not evil, I know it. Maybe you're just not trusting enough." Cinder glared back at him. "If you were really worried, like, really worried, you would have let go of my hand and ran back."
Xeno growled. He knew Cinder was right. He just let out a hmph and turned his head away from her. "Well, I'm clearly the only rational thinking one here." He looked back at Cinder when she tugged on his hand harder.
"It's speeding up. How is it going so fast in such thick snow?" she complained. But, although the vaporeon was speeding up, Cinder started to slow down. Feeling Comet's presence start to fade away, she looked down in confusion before she turned around to see her rapidash friend just standing in the snow a few feet away. Her beautiful mane flowed softly in the wind as she smiled with watery eyes.
"It's been a long journey with you, Cinder," Comet said. "I've enjoyed the part I played in the prophecy." Cinder looked at her with worry in her eyes.
"I- What do you mean..?" she spoke, stepping towards her friend. But she already knew what was happening without being told. "No, you can't leave me, Comet, you- You're all I have. I can't get through this without you, you can't leave me!"
