THE SUN SHONE through Rhaellas sheer white curtains causing a warm feeling to linger on her face. The morning of the girls' sixteenth name day was almost picture perfect. So perfect that Rhaella feared something would go terribly wrong, there was always a calm before the storm. The princess had already had the day planned out in her head. First she would wake, done, than her handmaiden would come in with her favorite breakfast, she would put on a pretty dress. Watch a duel between two knights with her family, and than start the preparations for her party. The girl just hoped her mother wouldnt make it all about herself, or bug Rhaella to find a suitor the whole night.Without knocking Alicent walked in, almost if on cue. "Happy nameday daughter" Alicent smiled at the younger girl.
"Goodmorning mother." Rhaella smiled back from her bedside, her hair in a entanglement of knots.
"I had a gift made for you, im sure the handmade will have it in any second." excitement filled Rhaellas face the girl had always loved receiving gifts, just nothing extravagant. The girl would much rather receive a book or some paints than fine dresses and jewels.
The handmaiden found herself through the door of Rhaellas bedroom with a beautiful emerald green dress. Rhaella honestly found the color hideous, and the dress itself far too revealing for her own taste. The dress was obviously more her mothers style than her own, but the princess was too polite for her own good and would never admit that to her mother. She would just smile and compliment it while secretly wishing her mother knew her a bit better.
Alicent stood anticipatingly for her daughter's response.
"Mother, this is beautiful. I love it, thank you." Rhaella said with a fake smile
"Oh daughter you must wear it today! How wonderful it would look on you I need to see it. Not to mention how much men would fall to there knees at your dinner tonight." Alicent insisted
Rhaella knew that her mother's proposal was more than a demand rather than a request. She couldn't refuse the woman so reluctantly she agreed. Rhaella had already had a beautiful dress picked out for this day. It was a beautiful blue, much like the girl's eyes. She supposed the dress would have to wait for another night to make its debut.
"I'll leave you be while Lady Aurora gets you ready for the day. Don't be late I'm sure your brothers are already waiting at the training yard for you" Alicent reminded the girl of her plans to watch Ser Cristons duel.
Lady Aurora styled Rhaella's hair into two Dutch braids. She helped the girl into her dress and than saw her way out of Rhaellas room to the girls request. Rhaella did not like being assisted by the handmaidens, of course having someone clean your quarters or deliver you food was convenient but she had always hated when they helped her get ready, as if the girl was disabled and unable to do a simple task such as getting herself dressed without assistance. She hated feeling entitled.
Rhaella took a look at herself through her beautiful mirror, a mirror that was gifted to her by her older sister Rhaenyra for her tenth birthday. Looking into the mirror always made Ella feel beautiful, when she was a girl she liked to think that Rhaenyra put a spell on the mirror so that Rhaella always felt beautiful looking into it. Today looking into the mirror wasn't any different, the princess felt stunning. She only had one thing to adjust, her hair. It was tight and pulling at her roots, no matter how many times she told Aurora to make the braids loose not only for comfort purposes but aesthetic purposes as well the woman never seemed to do so. The braids looked much better when Ella pulled out a few curls to frame her face.
Content with the adjustment Rhaella took in her full appearance. The dress framed her curves nicely, her chest was on display which was something the girl wasn't used to. Her fingers were adorned in beautiful golden rings of all different sorts of gems, over the years Rhaella had obtained quite the collection of rings. Something material the girl was fond of.
