THE FRESHLY sixteen year old girl made her way down the In the hushed corridors of her ancestral home. She was on her way to her twin brother Aemonds room to ask him if he'd like to play chess with her. Before Rhaella could enter the man's room she was stopped at the shushed voices coming from Aemond corridors. She couldn't quite make out who the voices were, one she assumed to be Aemonds but the other was to quiet for her to makeout. That was until the voice of the mysterious person raised.

"You are of six and ten now that is well of age to be betrothed. You can't deny every suitor I suggest to you." The red head recognized that voice it was her mother Alicent, clear as day.

"I do not want to marry any of those dirty girls you suggest" Aemond shot back at the woman

"I have had enough of this. You and Rhaella are to be married. You don't want any dirty girls there is your wish. Final" Alicent yelled back. Rhaella could hear her footsteps inching towards the door.

In that moment her heart shattered at her mother's chilling words. The revelation that she was to be betrothed to her own twin, Aemond, pierced her soul like a dagger. Tears streaming down her cheeks, she fled to her chambers, the weight of her mother's decree crushing her spirit.

Aegon who's room was not far from Rhaellas saw his younger run into her room in distress. He followed her into the dimly lit room, wondering what had gotten her so worked up. Aegons expression a mix of concern and frustration. "What foolishness has your mind conjured now, Rhaella?" he demanded, his tone sharp with a hint of underlying care.

Rhaella, her voice trembling with emotion, recounted the cruel plan that their mother had laid out for her future. "I overheard mother and Aemond speaking in his chambers. She told him that we were to be married."

Aegon looked at his sister, her lip trembling as tears stained her cheeks. "You and Aemond are betrothed?" Aegon repeated.

Rhaella nodded slightly.

Aegon could already feel anger seeping through him. How could his mother do such a thing. Without consulting Rhaella in the matter, without consulting him? Rhaella deserved much better than Aemond, she was hers. Helena wasn't even betrothed yet? Neither was himself so why should Rhaella and Aemond be?

"I don't want to marry him Aegon" Rhaella frowned

"I know."

"I love him but not like that, how could I ever love him like that he's my twin brother." Rhaella scooted closer to Aegon who was sitting on the foot of her bed. She buried her head into the man's chest as she cried. Aegon wrapped his arms around the precious girl infront of him only wanting to keep her safe.

"So you would never want to marry one of your brothers?" Aegon couldn't help but ask out of curiosity. He just had to know, would Rhaella ever want to marry him?

"What?" The sad girl looked up at the man

"Nothing important Rhaella" Aegon responded brushing off what he said before.

"You would be a great husband Aegon" Rhaella said moving away from the hug. "You always make me feel better"

"Thank you Ella" Aegon felt his cold heart warm from the girls words. His younger sister was truly a angel. The only person that could ever make him smile. The only person to show him love without expecting anything in return.

"I will talk to mother for you if that's what you wish" Aegon said to the girl, truthfully he planned on talking to his mother either way.

"Will you be able to change her mind?" Rhaella asked

Aegon wasn't sure if he could but he wouldn't go down without a fight. "I will try my hardest Ella." Aegon grabbed the girls much smaller hand and rubbed circles on it.

The slight gesture made Rhaellas heart flutter in a way it never has before. A foreign feeling creeping up on her. A feeling that made the man's stunning blue eyes more intriguing and the way the room light hit is face at just the right angle more noticeable.

"YOU BETHROTED Aemond and Rhaella?" Aegon didn't waste any time as soon as he was face to face with his mother all the anger he had bottled up for Ella's sake was released.

"Yes it was time to settle that problem" Alicent rolled her eyes

"I am the eldest and you haven't even betrothed me yet there was no need to plan for Rhaella." Aegon argued

"Actually son I have betrothed all of you" Alicent responded revealing her plans.

Aegons head was spinning at that knowing no woman could treat him like Rhaella would. "What the fuck who?"

"You and Helena will be married first" Alicent said thinking her matches were fair enough.

"I am not marrying that nut case mother" Aegon didn't think he could be anymore mad.

"Well what am I supposed to do Aegon? Who do you want to marry? Who is Rhaella supposed to marry because I see no other options." The queen raised her voice visibly irritated.

"Me. I want to marry Rhaella" Aegon spoke back frustrated that the idiot of a woman couldn't take the hint.

"You? With Rhaella?" Alicent laughed "You wouldn't be good with her. You a drunk Aegon you would destroy her. At least Helena sees the full you, she knows this marriage is a duty and will be accepting of you and your whores." Alicents words cut Aegon like a knife, he knew it was true. Rhaella was sheltered from the man's habits. Helena wouldn't expect anything less, but he didn't care. He couldn't let Aemond have this, he loved Rhaella he needed her.

"Mother please just think about it. I love Rhaella, she keeps me in line. She would make a man of me, a respectable man... and king" Aegon added knowing that his mother had plans for him to take over the throne and wanted to catch her attention. "Just think about it." Aegon added leaving the Queen to her thoughts.
