'Thank you, professor Flitwick!' I was almost skipping out of the charms classroom. Professor Flitwick was allowing me to join him on a trip to Hogsmeade with him tomorrow. I was in need of candy, new pants and most importantly a love potion. Flitwick told me that if I helped him with his errands I was free to go around the village for a few minutes. Hopefully, that would be enough time to get all of my stuff. If not, I'd be a sad girl without snacks to watch the show that she was about to start off at Hogwarts. Merlin's beard if I am able to pull this off... I grinned at the thought alone.

Pansy needed to know that we could start setting up a game plan now that I was allowed to go. The goal was simple, get Terrence Higgs to fall madly in love with Astoria Greengrass. Terrence was one of those dudes that doesn't like getting rejected and I was getting sick of him getting more and more agressive every time I said 'No'. Astoria wasn't any better. She was one of those girls who always likes getting attention from those around her, especially from the boys. Maybe it was a bit rude of us to make her deal with Terrence but, hey, she would get the attention she craves so deeply and stop seeking it from my cousin. That was the other reason, she was majorly obsessed with Draco ever since she found out Pansy had become his girlfriend.

It was a sunny day in autumn. I was walking through the hallways and thought about the fastest way to Pansy and where she might be. God I just hoped she wasn't in a closet with Draco, or worse, out in the open with Draco. The air smelled of damp leaves and was that a cigarette? I followed my nose through a corridor that led me to a courtyard. A rather small courtyard that was isolated from the rest of the school. Mattheo was standing in a corner, alone, smoking something awful. He was looking rather tired and had wet hair. I turned to leave again, staying away like we agreed the second time we met. But he looked up at me as if he could feel someone was watching.

'Ah, princess, I wasn't expecting to see you here.' He blew out some smoke and started walking up to me. 'I thought we made an arrangement to stay out of each other's ways at all times.' He let go of his cigarette. It landed on the damp, brick floor and went out immediately. I didn't quite know what to make of him. He was different than usual. Maybe he was high, I didn't know. Most importantly he was closing the distance in between us pretty quickly. I scraped my throat. 'We did, I accidentally found you here. And by the way, you are the one that decided on going to Hogwarts, so it isn't really my fault.' There were only two steps in between us now. I looked him in the eyes and noticed that they were a bit red, as if he had cried for about an hour or so. I also noticed that his pupils were massive. His step wasn't steady and he stopped right in front of me. 'You are right as always, princess. I shouldn't have come to Hogwarts.' He spoke that last part rather quietly. I looked up at him, something was wrong with the way he acted. Normally, when we saw each other, he didn't even acknowledge my existence and I tried to do the same. Now he was striking up conversation as if we didn't loathe each other. It felt weird, just talking to him. He was disarmed, his mind was somewhere else. I couldn't fight him if he didn't play offence. I looked up at him and saw red marks all around his neck. Did someone hurt him? I was about to take a step back when he stopped me. Mattheo's hands slit onto my waist. 'Just stay for a while.' I looked up to find his eyes again, he was looking at me weirdly. 'Mattheo, what is going on with you?' One of his hands started travelling up my spine and the other pulled me in closer to the point where I could smell his cologne. He smirked and closed even more space in between us 'Mattheo, you're not thinking straight.' I said losing my breath a little. He was looking at my lips as he said: 'I like it when you say my name, y/n.' His hand was now in between my shoulders, thumb stroking the base of my neck. I felt my knees getting weak. 'It would be so easy. So easy.' He leaned forward, saying that last part next to my ear. Enough! I tried to find my strength again. 'Ok that's enough!' He stopped stroking my neck and found my eyes with a confused look. He wasn't my responsibility but right now he needed help. I sighed. 'Let's get you a bed and some water.'

                                                                                             *****

I didn't know what had gotten into Mattheo or what had happened to him but it wasn't really my business, so naturally I was going to try to find out what was happening. How I got him to the boys dormitory and still be on time for potions was a mystery but I managed to succeed. (maybe it had something to do with the potions classroom not being too far from the slytherin common room) Mattheo kept mumbling something about his father and mother and about the triwizard tournament. I got him to bed and laid a glass of water on his bedpost before leaving for my potions class with Gryffindor. Being in the same classroom as Hermione Granger, that insufferable know it all is already bad enough but now I wasn't even sharp enough to answer questions because my mind was still thinking about Mattheo. The dark, cold potions classroom wasn't my favourite place to be but I didn't mind being there. It was comforting in its own way. Pansy was my partner and today we were brewing a new potion. Veritaserum. Also known as truth serum. It is one of the most powerful truth potions out there. Snape was doing his usual introduction of the potion as he held up a green bottle.

'This is Veritaserum — a Truth Potion so powerful that three drops would have you spilling your innermost secrets for this entire class to hear. Now, the use of this potion is controlled by very strict Ministry guidelines. We do not want accidents with this potion. If any of you ever were to use it you will be expelled immediately.' He was looking at me, knowing that I have a history with using potions when done brewing them. But why just bottle it and let it be graded when I could be using it instead? Such a waste of time.

The class was going great and I was about to add in the last ingredient while Pansy was stirring the cauldron when Hermoine decided to raise her hand. 'Yes.' Snape said in a monotone voice.

'I am done with my potion. And I have bottled it as well.' Snape looked irritated as he went over to Hermoine's table to inspect the potion.

'Well done Miss Granger, we have a new fastest potion maker. Miss Malfoy, do better next time.' Hermoine turned around in her seat to look at me.

'I'm sorry for taking your spot Malfoy but you know it was bound to happen at some point.' That little bitch. Who does she think she is talking to me like that? At that exact moment our potion changed colours and was done as well. I bottled it and saved a few drops in one of my own flasks.

'I will get back at her somehow, don't worry.' I told Pansy as we were going back to the slytherin common room.

'Who told you that I was worrying about that? Anyway, I can't believe you get to go to Hogmeade!' We went up a few stairs and arrived at our dormitory. 'Right? Ok lets put our brain cells together for once. How are we going to pull this off?'

Pansy and I came up with an incredible plan before dinner. I decided not to talk about Mattheo and also to not check on him. He had friends of his own and I had to focus on my own problems. I had a long day ahead of me tomorrow.
