Chapter eight

Aurora's pov

A few weeks have past. Aaron is still mad at me and I'm still mad at him for not only using his position against me but also doing that horrible simulation with the toddler on Juliette. You could hear the poor girl crying herself to sleep that night. I really wanted to go and tell her it was fake, but then I would probably get punished myself.

I'm in my room with Junie reading. As I'm just about to pick another book my pager goes off crazy. It's Aaron telling me to come to Juliette's room. This must be urgent since he's been ignoring me.

I look at Junie, "Stay here okay? Do not come out until I tell you to." She nods her head and picks up the book.

I dart out of the room and sprint to Juliette's. When I enter Aaron brushes her ankle and she jumps out the window. He's lying on the floor with a shocked expression on his face.

I'm speechless. "Wha—"

"I just touched Juliette." He pauses. "And nothing happened."

Aaron asked me to interrogate the soldiers. I think this is his way of getting back at me because he knows this is definitely not my strong point.

"There is a soldier waiting in the room, please go now." He says robotically.

I nod and walk in. The soldier lifts his head up and—

No not him.
Why did it have to be him of all people.

He's tied to a chair with rope. It looks like he has already been beaten quite badly since he already has a black eye.

"Come on I haven't got all day." I hear Aaron say in the speakers.

I take a deep breath.

"Kishimoto."

"Yes ma'am."

"Did Kent ever mention to you anything about his and Juliette's escape?"

"Not a word." He mumbles.

"Do you have any idea where they might be heading?"

"Not a clue." He says, still looking down.

Another soldier barges in all of a sudden and kicks Kenji's stomach. I gasp. He grunts as he falls to the floor.

He punches Kenji in the face, "Where are they?!" He shouts.

"I swear man, I don't know." Kenji coughs, blood coming out of his mouth.

He repeatedly kicks him in the stomach.

"Enough, soldier." I say with a firm voice.

He doesn't listen he just keeps hitting him.

"Enough!" I shout.

The soldier finally turns around and walks out the door.

Kenji coughs up blood and just looks at me.

I give him a pitiful look and walk out the door.

Aaron comes into view.

"What was that? Goddammit Aurora can you do anything right?" He spits.

Aaron glares at me.

"I had to send one of my men in because you were being too slow, what is going on with you?"

I know why he's doing this, he was obsessed with Juliette and now he's annoyed at everyone and everything.

"You need to pull yourself together." I hiss and walk out of the room.
