It had been approximately five months since Russia first attempted to grow the beloved flower in the vacant soil just outside his window. Yet, despite his consistent watering, monitoring, and feeding, the seed he had planted refused to grow. There was simply no sun. The dark, cloudy sky that covered his home bore no evidence of the bright light that was necessary to properly grow the flower, and gave no hint that it would appear anytime soon.

And thus, it had been approximately five months since Russia began dealing with a deep, sinking feeling of depression; one that filled his body with such sadness that his demeanor changed, and caused the Baltic states that lived with him to worry about the "brute." For once.

Russia had realized that he had no sun in his life.

You were on a trip in Russia, visiting some distant family, when the tales of the big, mean man on the top of the hill first reached you. He was described as destructive, with a cold heart and a terrifying personality. Which meant that everyone was afraid of him. You, however, had a voice in the back of your mind that told you that there was more to this man than what was being told, and you decided one fateful morning that you would take the five mile hike up to his home to determine for yourself who he really was. After all, every time you asked someone if they had ever actually met him, they used everything in their power to avoid your question.

So on a morning when the snow filled air was being a bit more lenient, you tossed all reason out the window and began towards the dark home looming far in the distance. The first few miles were easy enough, but as the terrain became steeper and the snow became deeper, you couldn't shake the feeling of dread that came over you. The cold that penetrated even your warmest coat could not be ignored.

Though your mind scolded you for your rash decision, your curiosity and determination motivated you to continue, despite the numbness that was creeping into your feet and up your legs. The age old phrase that curiosity killed the cat did not reach your thoughts. Coming across a large boulder in your path, you stopped to rest, pulling your fluffy coat closer to your body in a feeble attempt at warming yourself. After spending some time watching your breath freeze as it filled the space in front of you, you exited the boulder and continued your journey up the unforgiving mountain.

Meanwhile, at Russia's home, Latvia had been roped into sweeping the house, as the other inhabitants had managed to crawl away before he could when Russia had presented the idea. He was in the front living room when he decided to look up from the floor and wipe his brow, glancing out of the window to his left. It was then when he saw a dark figure approaching the home, a ways off.

That's...odd, he thought, no one ever visits Russia's house, and especially not in this weather.

"What crazy fool would want to come here?" He asked out loud, unaware of the large man approaching him.

"Someone's coming, da?"

Latvia let out a shriek and started stuttering out responses, "U-Uh y-y-yeah. Look out t-t-the w-window."

With his grin still intact, Russia shifted his gaze from his subordinate to the window, where his eyes widened slightly at the sight of the caped person, unable to recognize it as any of the countries. Grabbing his pipe, he moved towards the door, ready to fight should the visitor ask for it.

"Oh no! I think the person just fainted!" Latvia gasped, unable to see the figure anymore.

Without any hesitation, Russia yanked the front door open and expertly walked through the rising snow, reaching the figure who who was now face first in the ice. Curious and a little worried, Russia reached out and touched the person's face, and upon noticing how cold the skin was, moved to pick them up.
