A/N Happy Fourth of July fellow 'Muricans, and non 'Muricans! Here's a patriotic update! I no own Hetalia..

"Holy mother of freedom my birthday's tomorrow!"

The peaceful night's rest you were having was suddenly ripped away from you, and you tumbled off your bed in a heap of blankets and confusion. You could hear your best friend, America, yelling loudly from some unknown area in his home, probably waking up half the continent.

"Ugghhh Alfred...." you groaned to yourself. You loved him, but sometimes....well, let's just say that he once got Canada and Russia mixed up.
You shivered at the memory, just in time for a series of knocks to hit your door, your name being called over and over.

Picking yourself up off the floor you crawled to the door and opened it to see Alfred smiling widely at you. You almost slammed the door on his face. Almost.

"Yes, Al, what do you want at," you stole a glance at the clock and had a mini heart attack, "7:30 in the morning! You never wake up this early!"

"Yeah, but (y/n)! Dudette, do you know what day it is?" Alfred looked like he was about to explode.

Chuckling a bit at the sight of your excited friend, you contemplated his question. "It's July thi-"

"IT'S JULY THIRD, BRO! And you know what that means! IT MEANS TOMORROW'S MY BIRTHDAY!" He started jumping around outside your door, and you shook your head.

"Al, you do realize that you're like, 200 something years old right? How are you still excited about this?"

America gave you an "are you kidding me" face, "Uh, cake, presents, parties, duh! Plus, I'm going to get something super great, dude, at least hopefully!" This intrigued you.

"Oh really? What is it?" You asked, taking notice of the smirk that fell on his face. Oh no, nothing good ever comes from that face.

"It's a surprise~ Now come on dude, we've got stuff to do!" With that America grabbed your wrist, dragging your still pajama clad self farther into the house.

"Wait, Al! Where are we going???" You called out to him, and instead of answering you, he just let out a loud, obnoxious laugh.

"HAHAHAHAHA we're going to go set up for the killer party I'm going to have tomorrow! Don't worry, I already have someone on the cake."

"Who-" You were interrupted by a large explosion coming from the kitchen, followed by a muffled "Bloody Hell."

You mentally facepalmed. Yep, I was right. He's an idiot.

(Le time skip~ France, get back here!)

Alfred had led you to a Party City down the street from his home, where you picked up some supplies with, you guessed it, American Flags on them. Al had also freaked out when he saw superhero themed plates, so he got those as well.

After some more stops, you finally arrived back home, and you started to unpack.

Among the unnecessarily large amount of party supplies, you were slightly surprised to find a puppy bobble head, knee high flag socks, legos, and an eagle wind chime.

Confused, you turned to find America standing on top of a makeshift ladder out of chairs and hanging streamers from the ceiling.

"Uh...Alfred?"

"Yeah Dudette?" Alfred turned to face you, somehow magically not falling off. You held up the box of legos.

"Why?" You gestured to the box, and you watched his face drain of color.

"O-Oh...those are for Denmark...don't ask why. It's a long story..."

You raised an eyebrow at him but dropped the box back into the pile of stuff sprawled out on his floor. "And what is this? I didn't pick you out to be a wind chime person." You reached out and gently picked up the decoration.

"What? Dude those things are so totally awesome!" You gave him a look.

"Are you sure you didn't just get it because of the huge eagle on it?"

"Pfft no, I- " he couldn't finish his sentence because the chair he was standing on suddenly snapped, sending him tumbling down along with five other chairs.

You couldn't help but laugh at your friend and his silly actions. Soon you were on the floor, holding your stomach and rolling around.

Alfred looked up at you after pushing his glasses back onto his face, and you didn't notice the light blush that spread across his cheeks.

Your laughter slowed, and you walked over to America, reaching out a hand to help him up. "Oh my goodness Al, what am I ever going to do with you," you said between giggles.

"Come on, we still have a lot to do if you want this to be the best party ever!" You yelled over your shoulder as you grabbed a handful of red, white, and blue supplies.

"Y-Yeah! Hey! Last one to decorate their side of the room is a rotten egg!" Alfred grinned widely at you, already running to his side.

"Al that is so childish," you paused, "But I'm still going to beat your ass!"

And with that, you both managed to finish all the setup in record time. You glanced at a clock on the wall and saw that it was almost midnight.

"Hey (y/n), come with me, I have something to show you." You tore your gaze from the clock to see Alfred standing just outside the door to his backyard. You ran over to meet him.

He led you to a small hill where you both sat, you curiously and a little warily looking around. You heard America begin to softly count down.

"What are you doing?" You whispered to him.

"You'll see," he said, his lips curving into a soft smile, "And.....midnight!"

"What-" Your question was halted when Alfred reached over and gently placed his lips on yours, startling you. Once you grasped what was happening, you closed your eyes and kissed him back, soft and tentative.

You both pulled away after a moment longer, faces so red they put Spain's tomatoes to shame.

You stared into his eyes, reaching your hands up to lightly touch your lips, before they grew into a big smile. "What was that?" You asked, which prompted a quick laugh from Alfred.

"A kiss, you dummy! It was your birthday present to me!"

You stared at him for a moment before bursting out laughing again. Alfred looked at you with a raised brow and an almost hurt expression.

"Why are you laughing? This is a serious moment!"

"That answer was just so....you, and I just," you stopped to laugh some more, "you're just so cute!"
Alfred felt heat rise to his cheeks, and he thanked the stars that it was dark outside. Before he could say anything back, the single firework he had ordered went off, spreading golden sparks all over the dark sky. He heard you gasp, and he smiled at your reaction.

You slipped your hands in his, a silent thank you passing between you two. You looked back up at the remnants of the firework, and a thought suddenly came to you.

"Wait, aren't fireworks illegal in most of your country?"

"Yeah, but it'll be fine, I can't get arrested."

One firework later

"W-Wait a minute! I am the Untited States of America! You can't take me, I'm free!"

You sat on the hill watching your best friend get taken away by the police, shaking your head when you heard his ridiculous attempts at getting out of it.

"(Y/n)! Help me!"

Sighing, you began the walk down the hill, prepared to bail him out."Yep, he's defiantly an idiot." But he's my idiot.

You couldn't help the bright smile that came to your face at that thought.

I'm not sure if I wrote America that well, but I'm learning! Anyways, have a great day, today and always!
