A/N I love Belarus, and it honestly pains me whenever I see her with Russia, because she loves him so much but will never be with him. So I decided to write a one-shot about it! I do not own Hetalia or the picture .

I sense there's something in the wind
That feels like tragedy's at hand
Natalya watched as her brother broke. Buried under pressure and attacks from both neighboring and distant countries, Ivan was slowly losing his composure. Despite this, he kept a strong face and maintained that small grin, but Belarus could see through the facade that her beloved brother was putting on. She could see the pain. She could see him falling apart. And it scared her.
And though I'd like to stand by him
Can't shake this feeling that I have
The worst is just around the bend
She spent all of the time she could by his side, doing anything and everything she could to help him, to keep him happy, and to keep him together. Yet, she knew better than to believe that all would pass over without any consequences. Deep within her mind, where she shoved these unpleasant truths, she knew that this was only prolonging the utter collapse of Russia, and soon after, herself. But she still stayed next to him, ignoring the sneers and rude comments she would get from fellow countries, and sometimes even from Ivan himself.
Anything for him.
And does he notice my feelings for him?
And will he see how much he means to me?
I think it's not to be
Belarus had thick skin, which was necessary for someone who received daily blows to her personality and actions. Sure she constantly urged Russia to marry her, often times going to the point of threatening him and those around him, but she did it because she knew that no one could love Ivan like she could. No one knew him like she did. His fears, or his deepest feelings, or even the way he liked his coffee.
She wanted nothing more but to protect Ivan from the horrors he had to face, so that he could finally find the peace he so craved. She chased people away from him because she saw how people treated him, how they cowered in fear, or called him weird. Russia was hurt by these words, regardless of how he acted, and he was lonely. Belarus could not stand the fact that he believed the destructive rumors being spread about him. She was baffled by how he couldn't see what she could see.
What will become of my dear friend?
Where will his actions lead us then?
Russia was making risky decisions and taking chances that he normally wouldn't, and Belarus was worried. The state of the country was already unstable, and Ivan's lack of thought in his actions was only picking away at what was left of the foundation.
She watched from the sidelines at meetings, and even when he was alone in his office, how wild his eyes looked. They used to be filled with a calm joy, and she missed the soothing, beautiful purple color she had fallen in love with.
Power was driving his mind, not rational thinking, but there was nothing Natalya could really do but sit and gaze upon the effects.
Although I'd like to join the crowd
In their enthusiastic cloud
Try as I may, it doesn't last
His advisers, commanders, and even leaders from other countries encouraged Ivan's choices, cheering him on as he brought down onto his country unnecessary death and destruction. Belarus attempted more than once to see the merits in his ideas, but failed. She was not ignorant like those who talked him into doing what he was doing.
After a long day in conferences and making war plans, Belarus caught Russia in his room, his head in his hands, doing something he hadn't done in centuries. He was crying, and it broke her heart.
You see, Belarus was not a psychotic killer. She simply had a lot of love to give. So much that it would seem that if you were to cut her, she would bleed love. She just loved much stronger and more passionate than most, and that is what the others saw. Not the care she held for her brother, but how she showed it.
And will we ever end up together?
For a while, Belarus believed she had a chance. She thought that if she kept asking that eventually he would give in, and give to her her greatest wish.
But she was not naive.
It didn't take long for her to realize that she was nothing but a nightmare to Russia, a burden that he couldn't get out of his head.
Yes, Belarus had given up a long time ago, but she kept asking, kept keeping herself in his life. She did this not for herself, as she had in the beginning, but now for Russia. She knew that if she didn't shower him with affection, that he would never experience love, as no one else was willing to show him any. Even if she was clingy, and was glued to his hip, her greatest fear was that she would someday be pulled away from her brother, and he would be alone.
She did all of this, took all of the mean words, because she didn't want her brother to feel the loneliness she had always endured.
And she accepted all of this, because it was for him. Anything for him.
No, I think not, it's never to become
For I am not the one
