That night the boys had their game, and won. After the game Janiva walked right by her brother with her crew. She acted like she didn't even know him. What Amelia said at lunch earlier in the day rang in his head.
After he got back to his dorm, he showered then called James.
"Hey son congrats on the big win. I watched the game with your mama she's already in bed though." James said
"Thanks.." he said
"What's wrong? You sound like something is bothering you." James said
"I um..I like Janiva's friend Amelia. But she wants nothing to do with me." He said
"Let me take a guess, does it have to do with how you treat your sister." James said
Bucky looked down, "Yeah.." he said
"Son I have always told you that I don't like the way you treat Janie. I have told you multiple times she is going to turn it on you." James said
"Oh she did that tonight." He said
"What did she do?" James said
"She treated me like I didn't exist tonight." He said
"Doesn't feel good does it? I would never treat my twin sister Jaleesa this way. She's been my best friend since the day we were born. You and Janie use to be that way until you decided one day that you didn't want the world to know she was your sister and that hurt her James. She was so hurt that she gave up a sport she loved.." James said
Bucky was reminded of all the times he saw his dad and his sister growing up, and how he always hoped he and Janiva would be that way.
"James you need to start with your sister first..start mending that relationship before trying to impress Amelia." James said
"Ok ..love you dad." He said
"Love you son." James said and they hung up.
