While Janiva was away at Lia's house, since sleeping around wasn't helping him forget Lia he just holed himself up in his room.
Winnie came into his room to check on him.
"James Buchanan it's summer why are you sitting in your room." Winnie said
"Because I can't do anything but think about Amelia Janiva's best friend...I tried to ask her out before school ended she rejected me twice." He said
Winnie sat down on his bed, "honey she isn't like the girls you are use to. She isn't going to fall at your feet." She said
"But mom I like her I just want a chance. Jan didn't even want to help me win her over." He said
"James honey you have to show her that you are a good guy. All this partying, drinking and sleeping around that you do isn't showing her that. You remind me of a guy that wanted to be with me in highschool he acted just like that. I wouldn't give him a chance for those reasons. Then I began dating your daddy and he went down even more of a spiral and he has since passed away. I don't want that for you, I don't want to have to bury my baby before they have a chance to live their life." She says
Bucky looked away.
"Clean up your act first and then see what happens." She says as she hugged him.
"Ok" he whispered
"Now cheer up and go outside. Do something besides sulk." She said as she got up to leave.
