last day of camp

I woke up a while after, darius had left to talk to kenji. I sat there for a moment, thinking. We are about to go home, but do I even want to go home? I love my dad, and I love my life, but is it even worth it? people had died today, because of dad's creation. what would happen to him? would he be taken away?

I dont think I want to go home. these past few days have been amazing, no stress, no pressure, just joy. there's no person telling me what to eat, when to eat.

I've been modeling since I was 3. so many issues arose because of it. I was hospitalized once, because I was severly malnourished. the industry force me to become something I wasn't, it made me develop countless eating disorders, it made me fall into a deep depression, do I want to go back to that?

I stood up to stretch, when suddenly alarms went off.

everyone grouped back together.

"attention, all park-goers must report to the south ferry dock for immediate evacuation. last ferry departs in two hours"

"that's it? no explanations? that's all we get?" brooklyn said, catching her breath

darius, kenji and I jumped over a railing, "we have to move," darius said, "the only way we're gonna make it is if we run."

"um," Sammy looked back at yasmina, who was limping, "are we sure that's the best way to get there?"

"I'm fine!" yasmina said, "I've competed with a torn ACL, you should be way more worried about Ben and bumpy."

ben panted, "what we should all be worried about is catching a boat out of here, and, naturally, we have a problem"

ben laid a map out for us, "we're here," he said, pointing to the map, "the docks are on the southern tip of the island, even if we ran at peak yaz speed, there's no way we'd make the last boat out."

"you don't know that!" sammy said, trying to stay positive. ben scoffed, "yes I do! I memorized the evacuation plan on the ferry ride over"

everyone groaned, darius interjected, "okay, so we need another way, um..can we use those somehow?" he questioned, pointing at the kayaks, "or send someone to tell the ferry people to wait?" he added

"or make a few jetpacks real quick? oh! we should befriend a unicorn! face it. its hopeless" brooklyn was obviously getting annoyed. I lightly hit her, shaking my head no, darius didnt need anymore pressure on him. brooklyn just rolled her eyes at me.

"we will be arriving at main street, your destination for fine dining, and shopping at jurassic world"

we all ran, the monorail, of course! in that moment, hope coursed through me, maybe it will all be okay, maybe I'll get to go home to my dad.

"monorail! what-what!" kenji said, cheering

"hm, nicely played universe" brooklyn added

"hurry!" darius said, before running off. we all followed after him.

sammy, brooklyn, and kenji all ran to the monorail, before quickly running back. fear evident on their faces.

they hid behind a wall, stopping me and darius from going any farther.

I took a peek, the wall hiding me, and there I saw a carnotaurus.

"toro!" kenji whispered, "toro?" I asked, "thats toro, and why do you say it like that.." kenji asked, I side-eyed kenji, "why do you say it like that? Im saying it how its actually pronounced, your saying it 'tow-ro'" I said, last part in a southern accent.

I turn back to toro, he was blocking our path to the monorail. we had to find someway around him.

me and darius watched as toro got his face stuck in the can, obviously not the most, smartest dinosaur in the park.

darius whispered to everyone, "move" and on his signal, we ran. quickly hiding behind the stairs, we look over to see everyone still at the wall, no one ran.

after a moment of hesitation, sammy, brooklyn, and kenji walked out, but quickly ran to the wall as toro turned around.

the can fell of toros head, as he stalked close to the group. with quick thinking, darius threw a rock to a can, distracting toro.

darius and I ran to the other side of the stairs, before signaling to the others to run.

they did, and they all went up the stairs as quietly as they could, darius and I stayed at the bottom steps, before quickly following behind.

darius and I pulled yas close to the wall, toro looked for a moment, before walking away.

we all watched as bumpy ran up the stairs. her movements caused a cup to start falling, but thankfully brooklyn caught it.

kenji and brooklyn reached the top, kenji about to yell out, before brooklyn stopped him, toro was at the bottom of the stairs.

but luck was never really on our side, was it? the monorail doors opened. "welcome to the jurassic world lagoon, next stop, ferry landing!"

toro roared, trying to climb up the stairs after us. everyone ran up the steps, no longer crawling. I look back to see ben at the very end, toro catching up to him.

I ran down, pulling him up with all of us. I pushed ben in front of me, brooklyn screaming at us to hurry up.

I see darius approaching, I look back, toro about to get yas.

I cant do this, I need to do this. I looked at darius, I looked at sammy, I yelled out to everyone, "tell my dad I love him, and that im sorry!"

I quickly jumped off the stairs, yelling, screaming, anything to attract toro's attention to me. thank god, it worked. toro went down the stairs chasing after me. I laughed, it had worked, their all gonna be okay.

I could see darius help yas up, ben following after them. for a moment ben and I locked eyes. his blue eyes, immediately calmed me.

I turn back to see toro running after me. I quickly ran into the forest, trying to evade him. I watched the monorail lights drift away. at least they were all safe.

I ran past trees, paths, anything. but no matter what, toro was always one step behind me. soon, I was too tired to go on, the pain in my leg completely engulfed me. I quickly stopped at a river. I turned around to see toro, he ran at me. there was nothing I could do.

right as toro was about to bite me, I jumped into the river. I had no idea where it would go, but at least I would be safe from toro, right?

wrong. I quickly felt the current going faster, before realizing, there was a water fall up ahead.

too tired to do anything, I let it take me. I screamed as I fell, I hit the water, and everything turned dark.

on the other side of the island-

dr. wu sat on a helicopter, "wheres hoskins?" he yelled out, "he's sending you and the assets to a secure location" a man said, "but the deal is still intact?"

the man assured him that everything was fine, but before they could get the helicopter to leave, wu yelled out, "and where is my daughter?" the man thought for a moment, "I dont know sir, she might be on the ferry already."

he wasnt about to leave without his daughter, "we are not leaving without my daughter! find her immediately!"

the man complied, and sent out a search party. but after a few hours, nothing. so they had to leave. a heartbroken dad, watching the island get farther away, without his daughter, without his light.
