The air was hot and humid, creating salty beads of sweat on the skin. It was almost hard to breathe, and the sun was shining so bright that it was blinding. If it weren't for the fact that she was swimming, Shiera would've been complaining about it. However, in the water the heat became bearable and the sun created beautiful reflections and specks of light that shone on Shiera and her friends' faces.

The only sound that could be heard was laughter, spilling out of all the maidens' lips like a summer song. They were splashing each other with water, playing like the young girls they were. Their skins were becoming redder by the second, kissed by the harsh rays, but that seemed to be the last thought on their minds.

"How is this for a name day, Shiera?" Jynessa laughed through the swords of water crashing on her body. "If you keep attempting to drown me, Ness, I'm afraid this is going to be my last" Shiera gasped through the waves created by her dear friend.

Ness exploded in a boisterous laugh, making Shiera do the same. "This is tiring" giggled Shiera, making her way to the pool's edge to lie down "I think I've grown too old to play like this"

"Don't be ridiculous!" Ness gasped dramatically, joining her friend by the edge "What would that make of me? An old witch? You're merely sixteen, Shiera, life is a path to be beaten still" Shiera choked out a laugh "Don't pretend to be so much wiser than me. There are only two years of difference between us" she rebutted. "Well, - added Jynessa - think back on your life two years ago. I'm positive you'll find that you were a completely different person then. Two years is a long time, Shea, many lessons are learned in that amount of time".

So, Shiera did just that: think about what her life two years prior looked like; and she found that there weren't many differences. Her routine was almost the same, her company also. Not much had changed, the biggest difference was her nostalgia.
