○Chapter 30○ No matter what

Where am I?

The bed I was lying on was pretty uncomfortable so I got up and paced around the room, wondering where I was. It was a rather small and dim room. The windows were covered by stacks of paper and everyone corner were tall bookshelves.

Where is the way out?

I fidgeted with some of the objects in the room to try and unlock some secret door like in the movies, but they did not seem to work.

What is with this place?!

I sighed and slumped back onto the bed. It was a rather comfy bed. Then, I heard footsteps getting louder and louder. I turned around and saw a girl. She looked like me with the black hair and eyes, but it was not me. At least I believe she was not. She looked confused and like she had been crying. Her eyes were red and puffy. Her clothes were disheveled and torn.

"Where am I?" She asked meekly. Ah, she even sounded like me. It felt kind of weird, like hearing my ownself.

"Who knows? I woke up here and there does not seems to be an exit. By the way, how did you get into here?" I asked.

"I don't know...All I remember is being in really weird pain. Which felt weird since I was just a robot, an upgrade of a replacement," she told me.

A replacement... I don't like the sound of it... And an upgrade? Does that imply that the previous robot was a failure? I don't like it one bit.

"Robot or not. I believe she had a will of her own. She was not some tool or replacement. She was living her own life and she fell in love. Even if it was a robot. She loved him so much," I said.

"She did?"

"Yeah... She misses him a lot too..."

"... Who are you by the way?" She asked. "I am Nanase Yurika."

"... Yuriko."

AI/AITO'S POV

"What do you mean professor?" I asked in my usual monotonous tone.

"Yurine and Aine will never wake up. Even if they do, it will take forever.Probably decades or centuries. By then they will be dead. That's why Ai you can continue to be 'alive'. However Yuriko... Yuriko's personality was from Aine, but as she is still an adaption of Yurine, she doesn't understand sadness and pain all that well. Therefore, she breaks. Resetting her takes a toll on her unique program and it's impossible to do more than once," the professor explained.

I stared at Yurika's body which was floating in a glass cylinder of water. She was being beaten up by Yumi when I got there. Yumi ran away once she saw me. I managed to bring her back to the professor, but I did not make it in time.

"Yurika's system defenses were weakened by the Yumi and now Yuriko has been awaken. She wants to take back control of her body," the professor continued. "The possibility of her succeed is extremely low depsite Yurika's current state with the body like this. Help me out Ai."

"I go by Aito now, but sure. I will help you out," I replied. I placed my forehead onto the glass and stared at her.

I believe in you... Yuriko...

YURIKO'S POV

"Ai... It doesn't matter if I was made to replace a human being. I was alive and I fell in love," I said.

"Love? Professor told me not to fall in love at all cause. But..." Yurika seemed hesitant to continue. She looked down in embarrassment, her face was really red as well.
