~Beginning~

Adelaide Montgomery was a well known girl her father was a very rich man which resulted in her being talked about and meaning she knew a lot of people but yet she hated party's and going out to be with friends and enjoy the outdoors, it wasn't her thing but she was always forced to party's and family gatherings because obviously her family were all on of the well known families in Birmingham well them and the Shelby's.

Adelaide had met the Shelbys once but that was when she was 14 she's now 21, her father adored the Shelbys and treated them like a second family but after her brother had died, her father had blamed the Shelbys for what happened to him. Which resulted in the two families being rivals

Adelaide stood in-front of her mirror as she applied her lipstick, tonight was a family gathering, Adelaide checked her dress again before making her way downstairs and towards the ball room she pushed open the doors as the noise of voices and drinks clinking together was all that was heard, she made her way towards her father who stood talking to a man, she tapped her fathers shoulder and he turned his head towards her, he pulled her into a side hug before he turned back to the man infront of him, Adelaide walked off and looked around before her eyes landed on a man who stood not to far from her at the bar

She looked away quickly and walked over to her mother who was stood with a drink in her hand "oh sweet flower" she said Adelaide walked over to her and she kissed her cheek which made Adelaide smile a little. After a little while Adelaide had made her way to the bar and now stood waiting for her drink as she looked down at her nails she felt eyes on her, she looked up sparing a glance towards the eyes of the man she had just seen 2 minutes ago she looked back down before quickly grabbing her drink and making a run for the table in the corner the only place that she could be seen and not get told off for not being at the party.

Looking around Adelaide noticed that her father was now talking to a very familiar man that she couldn't quite put her finger on what his name was, but what really caught her eye was those piercing blue eyes that stared at her before looking towards the other men stood next to him, it seemed the three of them were talking to her father he seemed very Adgetated, so she began to get up and make her way over

"Father is everything alright" she said as she placed her hands on her fathers shoulders he pulled his cigar from his mouth before looking at his daughter "I'm fine, flower" he said as he placed a hand on her cheek, Adelaide smiled "mr Shelby can we take this business to my office please" he said the man in question nodded as the 5 gentlemen began walking off with Adelaide following "Adelaide , you can come with" he father said as he stopped at the top of the stairs  looking down at his daughter who stood at the bottom of the stairs, she quickly made her way up the stairs following closely behind the Shelby men

Adelaide's father sat at his desk with the three Shelby bothers sat before him, Adelaide stood behind her father, looking out at the the pool that sat in the garden
She wasn't really listening to what her father was talking about but he seemed a bit ticked off about whatever the man was saying and replying to his questions "how can we settle this matter" Tommy said as he stared at Richard who  rested his head in his hands thinking before he leant back "could a marriage between one of your brothers and my daughter stop this war between us" he said Tommy nodded his head before turning to his younger brother "will he do" he nodded towards john who looked back at him nodding, richard thought a moment more before nodding "he will do, for my daughter" he said as he stood up holding his hand out

Tommy shook his hand "so it's settled your daughter Adelaide will be marrying my brother John" Tommy said richard nodded but the both of them froze when they heard a bang

Adelaide had turned around when she decided to listen to the conversation that took place before her after she heard marriage and her name she froze and made her way towards her fathers desk banging her hand against it " father you can't do this" she said as she looked at her dad "it's for the family flower" Richard said as he now stood before his daughter "but I don't wanna get married" she said he just shook his head "you'll be alright, he will lo- "I don't want to" Adelaide yelled she quickly regretted her decision of yelling when a loud smack sound echoed through her fathers office, her head turned to the side during the impact, her hand flew upto her face holding her injured cheek she looked up at her father who's face was bright red Adelaide looked at her fathers face searching for regret in his eyes or anything that showed that he was sorry but there wasn't anything, she felt tears begin to fall down her face but before anyone could see her teary face she ran towards the office doors before opening them and running out towards her room

"Sorry about that boys" Richard said as he sat back down in his chair the three Shelbys nodded before that all stood and walked out of the office, Tommy and Arthur began walking down the stairs but the both of them froze when they noticed John was gone the both of them looked at each other before shaking their heads, they decided to wait outside for John as he always was doing something like this

John was angry, he couldn't quite understand why but, he had already made his way towards a room that stood at the end of the hall which he assumed was the girls, he knocked on the door waiting for a voice but got nothing so he knocked louder, Adelaide who was in the room sat on her bed as tears streamed down her face most likely ruining her makeup but she couldn't care right now, a knock was heard on her bedroom door she ignored it assuming it was her father, another knock was heard and she looked up "go away" she yelled the door suddenly opened and Adelaide stood up making her way towards the door she went to shut it trying to shut the person that had just walked out but the door was pushed agianst her and she fell to the floor, a man she quickly recognised stepped in closing the door behind him, he looked down at her as she began getting up he walked towards her but she backed away

John stared at the girl before him as she backed away from him, she now sat on her bed, he looked down before going over to her and sitting beside her, she looked at him with teared stained cheeks, she looked so broken and confused with what had just happened, john had never seen someone so broken, she looked so happy when he first saw her, but the night had ruined her, john stared at her before pulling her towards himself, she had began crying again so he pulled her in for a hug, the two young adults sat together with Adelina in johns arms.
