~promise's~

Adelaide sat on her bed looking through her book when a knock came on her door it reminded her of last night when John Shelby had come in and held her, the both of them had stayed in each others arms for a little while before John left, he told her that he would be there for her and that he would look after her. Adelaide was happy that she had someone to look out for her but at the same time she knew he was probably only helping her because they both had to get married soon, after john had left Adelaide's mother had entered with a small box, handing it to her daughter she opened the box finding a ring sitting in the box before her, it was really happening she had thought, her mother had told her when the marriage was going to happen, it was going to be in 2 days time and Adelaide was not happy but she held her emotions to herself. She was not ready for marriage

Adelaide's pov

Marriage was not something I wanted but my father had said it was meant to happen and that I had no choice, I was scared of my father, I had never been but after that night I couldn't face him, but that wasn't what I was worrying about that, the wedding was the only thing stuck on my mind. 2 days was quite a short deadline, but the wedding was halfway done but, Adelaide needed her dress and flowers she had been told that, her soon to be brother~in~law was going to giver her away and it seemed the wedding was slowly falling into place, tomorrow was her dress fitting and she had a day to rest

The day had gone on like any other day, I walked around the living room as I looked at the pictures of my family, I was going to leave soon and I really wasn't ready but being your family's pawn you were always forced into things you don't like, it was how family's worked you give up one child right? Or was your family supposed to protect you from any harm and treat you right? Or was there something missing, it felt like I had no control over my life anymore, my father had taken control and was going to ruin my life.

The next day

It was the last day and it was dress fitting day and Adelaide  stood with her arms out as they measured her body, a beautiful flowing dress had been chosen for her, yeah 'chosen for her' this was how life was going to be for her now, the dress looked beautiful as I stood with my veil over my face a crown was adorned on my head my hair was going to be styled on the day but today she wanted to try the dress and see how it looked.

The Montgomery girls had all got out of that car as they made there way towards a shoe shop we're Adelaide's heels we're waiting for her, the four of them walked in and the women who owned the shop looked at the four of them asking if they needed help, Mrs Montgomery looked at the women "we have some white shoes that we were supposed to pick up today for a wedding" she said as she pulled her gloves off Adelaide  looked around the shop at the new shoes  as she looked around she felt a gaze behind her, she turned her head towards the man who stood looking at her smiling, she smiled back at him and walked over to her mother who now had the shoe box in her hands, the 4 girls left the store and back to there car, Adelaide sat beside her mother and opened the shoe box, she looked at the white shoes and picked them up turning them and looked at them with a smile.

Adelaide laid in her bed looking up at her ceiling, many thoughts rang through her head as her mind was full of emotions, she was scared but at the same time excited, she was getting married after all but it was so soon and this was forced she wanted to choose herself but her family didn't approve of that option so they make deals and sell there daughter, to say Adelaide was angry was a true statement, but she wanted to bottle that anger as it was always something she was good at, ever since she was little she did the same thing over and over again her life was like a rollercoaster only the ride never stopped.

At the dinner table it was quite the Montgomery family all sat eating there dinner in a comfortable silence, but they all seemed off, like they were all itching to say something, until Charles decided to speak "so Adelaide are you excited about tomorrow" he asked as he cut his chicken before popping it in to his mouth, Adelaide  looked at her father as she moved her fork around her dinner not really feeling hungry "kinda" she said "kinda- are you joking your getting married for goodness sake you should be happy" her sister said as she shook her head taking a sip from her drink
" Estella be nice to your sister" her mother yelled "but Adelaide you really should be happy marriage is the best thing to ever happen I mean look at me and your father" her mother said as she pointed at herself and her dad of course she would agree with her sister, Imogen still hadn't said anything as she just ate her food ignoring the whole  situation going on before her.

"see listen to your mother and sister, marriage is the best just be happy and smile" he father said adelaide didn't know what she was thinking when she had yelled "just leave me alone okay, I didn't have a choice about this marriage, mother you had a choice so stop acting like everything is okay, it isn't, your making me get married to someone I barely know" she yelled as she stood up he chair flying back and she pushed her plate and walked off towards her room, ignoring her family as they began talking about her, practically shouting there mouths off.

Adelaide just laid awake in her bed as she thought about tomorrow and wishing she could just get it over with, so she could just get out of her family home and build her own family cause the one she was in had already fallen apart even though they try to  act like everything is fine, but there happy family was just a lie and gracelyn wanted out so maybe this wedding was a good thing it gave her an escape from her family.
