I stopped when I heard a noise that was too far away for Timothy's ears to pick up on and ducked behind a corner, pulling him with me because they were coming toward us at a fast pace but not too fast for us to get caught.

My whole body was tense, and I couldn't help but feel nervous, anxious even because the people sounded angry about something, and I knew that it was because they were talking about us.

"Joy?" Timothy asked, his voice barely above a whisper, not fighting me when I pushed him into a corner where we were hidden from the main pathway we were taking. He frowned and furrowed his brows while he cocked his head and studied me. "What is it? Is everything ok?"

I shook my head and pressed my lips into a thin line. "Other Addisans are coming toward us," I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper. "They're drawing closer to us at a fast pace, and I do not want us to be seen by them."

Timothy pressed his lips into a thin line and slowly nodded. He didn't say a word while he cleared his throat and shifted on his feet, crouching down lower and closer to me, grabbing his gun tighter.

I glanced at him from the corner of my eye and slowly blinked before I looked toward the direction I heard the voices.

Again, there were a few people talking, and I couldn't help but press my lips into a thinner line while I tried to listen into what they were saying and waited for them to pass us, even though they were taking their "sweet" time to get here.

"Are they coming this way?" Timothy asked after a few minutes, and I instantly swatted at him to shush him, earning a small hiss from the other male. "Shit, Joy," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "What's that for?"

"Shhhh," I shushed, looking at him through narrowed eyes, with my eyes flashing a different color, and Timothy tried but failed not to smirk. "Shut up, Timothy. I'm trying to listen to whatever they are saying, but I can't hear them because of you breathing down my neck."

Timothy bit back a small snort and rolled his eyes. He didn't say a word and backed up a bit so that I could listen to whatever was happening around us. His whole body was tense, and he turned around to look behind us to make sure that we were safe before he looked at me again.

The yelling grew louder and closer to us, and I could catch some of what they were saying, even though it wasn't much.

"Well?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, and I rolled my eyes again and scowled. "Wha-"

"Shhhh," I said again while I looked at him. I narrowed my eyes and bared my teeth while I stared at him with my eyes flashing again. "Please, stop talking, and shut up, Timothy, because I can't hear them." I cocked my head to the other side and tried to catch anything else that they were saying, but I couldn't hear anything else.

Timothy bit back a small snort but didn't say another word, and I couldn't help but breathe a small sigh of relief while I looked that way again. He bit the inside of his lip while he looked this way and that, waiting for whoever to appear, and so did I.

The Addisans drew closer and stopped in front of where we were hiding, and I pushed Timothy back a bit more before I moved back myself. They talked about whatever, and I couldn't help but set my jaw while I waited for them to finish their conversation so that they would walk away again.

Timothy touched my elbow, and I turned a little to look at him, narrowing my eyes and scowling. He smiled innocently before he grew serious and looked at them before he looked at me, silently asking me what they were talking about.

I rolled my eyes and scowled but didn't say a word while I turned back that way, silently telling him to shut up.

There was a pause when I moved, and the hair on the back of my neck stood up at attention because I knew that they were looking around and had heard that noise.

Shit...

"Did you hear that?" one of them asked, looking around before they looked at their companion again. "It sounded like someone shuffling near us."

"I did," the person confirmed and nodded. "What do you think it was?"

"Probably the wind?" the first one that spoke asked, raising an eyebrow in question.

I rolled my eyes and bit back a small snort. Of course it was, I thought sarcastically. It's not like we aren't indoors anyway.

"We're indoors, stupid," the second one said. "How can it be the wind?"

"Maybe there was a draft?" the first one asked. "Like someone opened the wall of the ship and entered that way? Aren't there people from that stupid Committee here?" he asked. "We did hear about those that had been knocked out but not killed."

The other person scoffed a laugh, and I had a feeling that they rolled their eyes. "They are weak," the second said. "They should have killed them when they had a chance."

"Hmph." The first one smirked and narrowed their eyes. "Of course, they are," he said sarcastically. "We should see who is actually here. Does anyone know who has knocked them out, or..?"

"Apparently, there is a half-breed amongst them," the second one said. There was a bit of annoyance in his voice before he cleared his throat and shifted on his feet. "And also, apparently the half-breed is the Prince's "daughter.""

Timothy poked my back when they said that, even though he couldn't understand it, and I pressed my lips into a thin line and ignored him. He didn't say a word and poked my back again, trying to get my attention so that I could tell him what they were talking about.

"And how do you know that it's the Prince's daughter?" the first one asked, raising an eyebrow in question. "I do not believe that this one is. She's just some half-breed working with the Committee." There was a moment's pause while the first one cleared their throat and looked around before they looked at their partner. "Are you sure that the Prince even has a daughter?"

"Yes," the second replied with a quick nod, "because I was one of the ones that helped her escape, and I regret it every moment that she breathes and lives on this stupid place called Earth."
