"And don't forget, Morph will be leading a group of soldiers into the building once you have set off yo-"

"Ya, ya," I said, rolling my eyes and scowling. "I know this information all ready, Briggs." I placed a nude ring on my finger, knowing that I was going to need it if I wanted to trick them into thinking that I was human. I pulled my hair into a ponytail, using one of the many weapons that I have been given for this mission from the Committee that I served under. "You don't have to go over it with me again."

Tony Briggs sighed and ran a hand through his graying hair before looking at me, annoyed. "I know this, Avinnie," he warned, and I cringed in disgust because I hated that name with a passion. "But, I want to make sure that this all goes down without a hitch." He gave me a stern look, his gray eyes looking into my blue ones, and I closed my mouth without saying a word. "You are ou-"

"-greatest weapon," I interrupted him, earning a scowl. I rolled my eyes and scowled. "I am your only hope that this goes off without a hitch, and no one dies. I know that, too." I glanced at my little floating pink blob, who was watching us with big green eyes. "Isn't that right, Morph?" I asked and raised an eyebrow.

Morph chittered some before he shifted into a smaller version of Briggs, waving his finger around while chittering sternly. Then, he turned into a smaller version of me while he floated onto the other side and did the same thing.

Briggs shook his head, and a smile flickered on his face. "What am I going to do without you two?" he teased, and we shrugged before Morph turned back into his normal blob self.

Morph grinned and floated toward Briggs. He sat down Briggs's hand when Briggs held it out and chirped when the male started to scratch his head.

"You might want to shift, Avinnie, and get used to the feel of being a kid again." He didn't look at me and focused his attention on the small blob, who was my companion.

Morph chirped slightly before floating back over to me and landed on the table. He glanced around curiously, his eyes wide while he took everything in.

I sighed and shook my head, not liking that he kept calling me by my real name, the name my "father" had given me. "It's Joy, Briggs," I scolded, and he shrugged. "Avinnie is my alien name. You know how much I hate being called that."

Briggs didn't respond but shrugged again. He gestured for me to do what I was told, and I huffed but relented.

I closed my eyes and concentrated, my body growing warmer as my muscles and bones started to break and shift into smaller proportions of myself.

After a few minutes, my body went back to its normal temperature of 109°F, and I opened my eyes.

The world was quite larger than I was used to, and I didn't like that at all. I looked up at the male that had been a father figure in my life to see that he was looking at me fondly. "What?" I asked, my voice higher than normal. I scrunched up my nose in disgust because I did not like the sound of it at all. "Is this how my voice is going to sound the whole freaking time?"

"Well, you are eight," a female said from the doorway, and I looked that way. "Or supposed to be." She glanced me up and down, a smile appearing on her face. However, her brown eyes didn't twinkle like they usually did. "You actually looked cute as an eight-year-old."

I saw that it was Dr. Kelly Peters, and she was carrying some supplies that might or might not be for me. I couldn't help but roll my eyes because that was what people had been saying while I had gotten ready for this mission. And it had led to many broken bones and bruises for those who had made that comment.

A small smirk appeared on my face while I let my face transform into that of my alien form. My nose disappeared into slits, while my eyes turned more cat-like and turned purple with black slits going up and down. My tongue grew longer and looked more like a serpent than a human tongue. My teeth grew sharp and pointy, reminding me of a shark. While all that happened, my eyebrows disappeared, and the length of my forehead grew until it looked like I was balding. "What about now?" I asked, hissing at the end. I gave her a smile, showing off my pointed teeth.

Dr. Kelly frowned and wrinkled her nose while Briggs shook his head and chuckled. "Disgusting," she replied, moving a strand of blonde hair out of her face. "Can you turn yourself back into a cute eight-year-old?" She glanced beside her where a floating Morph was, looking exactly like me and dancing. "And, I think Morph is going to get a kick out of this."

Morph glanced at her and grinned before floating towards me. He sat on my shoulder while I shifted back into my normal self. "Why have you come?" I asked, cocking my head.

"To give you an injection," she replied. "I am sure that they will check your blood pressure and temperature. No offense, but you don't have the same temperature as normal humans do." She pulled out a large needle and the liquid that would help me be more human like. "It will last until you shift back into your normal 5'9 self."

I winced but nodded. Not only did I not have the same blood pressure and temperature, but my skin was a hell lot thicker than that of a normal human being. "What about my skin? You know that they will probably give me a shot."

"It will make your skin softer. Just remember that you will have to take out the tracker before your skin hardens again."

I nodded while Morph buried his head into my neck. I turned my back to her and closed my eyes. "Just do it," I said, my voice quivering slightly. Damn, I hated this soft voice.

"Child," Briggs said, and I opened my eyes and glared at him, earning a smile. "Timothy has been updated on what will be happening," he said, changing the subject. "He knows that the plan is to get in, get information, get everyone out, before destroying the ship."

I nodded and winced. I wasn't wincing for the fact that they were killing off most of my species, but for the fact that Dr. Kelly had stabbed me with the needle and injected me with the "antidote." "What about my blood?" I asked, knowing that my blood was half human and half alien.

"You have the ring?" She looked at my hand to see the nude ring on my right hand. She nodded in approval. "Just press the button, and your blood will turn red, and the alien part will disappear for about twenty minutes."

I nodded. "Anything else?"

Dr. Kelly shook her head, no. "No, I have covered everything," she said. She glanced at Briggs, her eyes losing that lost look and filled with happiness that Briggs seemed to give her every time they were in the same room. "Do you have anything, Captain?" she asked, her voice having a small purr in it.

"You are to lead squadron one. My suggestion is for you to be in your regular form before you try to contact them," he said, oblivious to the fact that Dr. Kelly was all googly eyes.

Morph chirped, and I looked at the blob to see that he was making fun of Briggs and Dr. Kelly. He squeaked when I swatted at him, changing him back into his normal self, scolding me for ruining his fun.

"I'll remember that," I said, giving Morph the evil eye, and nicely told him to cut it out. "But, I'm sure I can kick their asses if need be."

"Language," Dr. Kelly scolded, and I shrugged. "You are still a kid." She handed me some papers as well as a My Little Pony backpack and lunchbox, much to my distaste. "You leave for your "foster house" for the rest of the day in an hour, and the bus will leave in thirteen hours after that, so I hope you are prepared."

I nodded and looked at Morph, who was making random images of battles, showing me as this amazing warrior and killing people left and right. A small smirk appeared on my face before it turned into a sneer. "I'm ready," I said and looked at them. "Let's do this."
