"Marisa...it's time to get up." Marisa's mother stood at the door frame, a loving smile on her lips.

"Okay, mom," Marisa flung herself out of bed and went to the bathroom to get ready.

"What's for breakfast?" Marisa asked, coming down the stairs.

"You'll have to eat it at school today." Her mother said apologetically.

"It's fine." Marisa shrugged, picking up her backpack.

Marisa walked to the bus stop; her and Carter's usual meeting place. Carter is Marisa's best friend, they've known each other all their lives.

"Hi!" Marisa tapped Carter on the shoulder, smiling.

"How did you sleep?" Carter asked, linking their arms.

"Like a baby!" Marisa said, turning to look at the group of people across the street, they were giving her strange looks. "What are they looking at?" She asked Carter.

"I don't know," Carter shrugged. "They're probably just a bunch of freaks, let's go."
