Just fyi, this is Max Gerlach (1885-1958), a friend of F. Scott Fitzgerald's and one of several people used as models for Gatsby. Gerlach served in WW1 and then became a wealthy "gentleman bootlegger," throwing lavish parties in New York to which all were invited.
