Chapter Sixteen: Hell

The shock and fear still shook within me as I started to regain my thoughts. I could feel my breathing and the slight pinpricks washing over me, but I still couldn’t move my limbs, not even my eyelids.

I felt an endless tiredness that stiffened my body and made me not want to try to open my eyes. I stayed in my state of mind where I was half conscious.

My thoughts kept shifting from Ryder to Sarah to Jonah to Jonas to Destiny to Alayna to Chris to Aaron etc. But it mostly stayed on Dr. Xeon. What happened? Did she get those papers? I felt myself become even more tired at the thoughts.

I should give up on thinking at least for now. It’s too much stamina. I decided this before I let myself slip to unconsciousness.

When I woke up again, my eyes fluttered open and I was surprised when I noticed that it was dark. I was expecting an extremely bright light in my face with those masked people hovering over me, but instead I was strapped down to a bed with no sheets or blankets, yet I was sweating profusely. I had on a white dress that was wet and stank of my perspiration. I huffed and puffed and yanked as much as I could, but the straps holding onto my wrists and ankles weren’t letting up. I gave up and started to take in my settings. I was inside a box that had its own air system that flooded my small amount of area with hot air.

I looked beside me and noticed another person in my same position, except I knew this person. It was one of Oval’s friends and he looked dead. I started to scream, hoping it would alert someone.

“Zoe?!” I heard a familiar voice.

“Jonas?!” I yelled back, searching around frantically.

“I’m over here!” He yelled back, I sat up as much as I could and there I saw him in the corner strapped up as me and in white pants. He was panting from the heat as well.

“What is going on?!” I yelled.

“They kidnapped us and put us here, but I think I know why.” He said, wiping his forehead with his shoulder.

“Why?” I asked, feeling the urge to scream die down.

“Remember when you were attacked at Gulliver and how you survived? I think this may have something to do with it.” He said. I lay down, feeling exhausted from just sitting up.

“How would they even know about it?” I asked, feeling more and more tired.

“They took your blood…” he said, “OH! They were examining your ribs, remember. They must’ve noticed your scars.”

That’s right. I had a nasty looking bite womb on my rib that was now merely a pink looking birthmark that had gotten some high fives from the guys.

The cleaning team had cleaned us thoroughly, but I had always covered my scar with my hand. No one here knew about it. I had forgotten all about it, how stupid of me! I started to cry then. I could hear Jonas cry as well. It only made me want to cry even more.

I was out of tears when a nurse came in and touched some numbers on a key pad on another box with another victim inside.

She took his blood and gave him a shot of something. I pretended to be asleep and I’m sure Jonas was too. She left after the swapping and I could hear the clicking of a door and something big move from behind it.
