I was on my way to our apartment when our door opened and it was Elías with his friend, what I assume. "oh hello luna" Elías says as I approaches them. "hi" I say back and wait till Elías introduces me to his friend. "oh, this is my friend Frenkie. And Frenkie this is my younger sister Luna." He says. "nice to meet you. You two don't look alike at all, to add" he says and I give out a smile. "I'll see if your kids will look alike" Elías jokes and they both laugh.
"well I'll probably go, before mikky calls me thousand times" he says. "yeah, say hi to little miles" Elías says and his friend starts to walk away as I step into the apartment and closes the door after me. "didn't know you were friends with dads" I say jokingly. "we are basically the same age, just that he has a son" he replies. I don't think of it much but Elías is getting older and I just wonder why he isn't father yet cause he would be so good at it.
"how did the party go by the way?" He asks me when he's sitting in the living room couch and I'm pouring some orange juice for myself. "it was alright. nothing special" I say and I hear small steps taken towards me. I look down and it was Ace. I pick him up after I drink my juice and cuddle with him. "my best boy" I say as I go towards my room and hear Elías say "heeey? what about me" and I just laugh.
Feeling like coming back to life, little by little is something that's great yet I feel like I'm stabbing my mom in the neck by moving on with my life. But I'm trying my best to avoid that feeling and sometimes it works, sometimes I just break up.
"you know what Ace? I'm never opening these curtains again. If I see him again I'll probably remove my window and place it somewhere else." I say and talk on with Ace as he just sits there, in his bed as if he understood me.
I change my clothes and go back to Elías to tell him something. He was in his room so I knocked and he told me that I could come in. He was just laying in his bed and doing something at his phone, which I assume was texting someone because he let out a small laugh and started to text, or that's what I saw. "you know, when you said that you could help me fix to start university here?" I ask and he look up at me and nod. "I think I wanna start again" I say.
I know that not even one month had passed away since my mom's funeral. But just as Elías said, I need to move on.
"how come you changed your decision?" He asks me. "probably what you said got into my head for once" I say and we both laugh. "little head of your is getting smarter." He says and jokes . "jokes aside, I'll help to fix everything. I have some contacts on the university so I'll see if the can help us." He says and I just thank him. Since the studies have already started I either needed to wait for the next year or perhaps I could start already this year. I was on my way out when I said to Elías. "and by the way, don't you dare to think that I didn't see what you were doing on your phone. I saw it!" I say and point at him. I'm 100% sure that he was talking to a girl. There was no other chance. "no clue what you're talking about" he says and I just laugh and let him be alone again.
