Present Marc's POV
I backed up from Micheal and couldn't help but notice the dull expression on his face. I wanted him to feel okay. However, there was something he had to do.
"You need to register for their school. People need to know that you're alive. Not the public, but legal stuff," I stated.
"Can't that just wait until tomorrow? I'm tired and my body hurts."
"I'll get bandages and an ice pack. I'll go to the office with you tomorrow."
"Wait!" he said as he grabbed my arm. "I love you more than the piano."
He smiled and I smiled back. "I love you more than the viola."
"I don't want to seem selfish or anything, but did you date my sister while I was gone?"
"Your sister? No, why would I?"
"How'd you two manage to get so...close."
"Close? She told me she was going to try and find out whoever murdered you so I tagged along."
"I dont trust her and neither should you."
"Jealousy doesn't look good on you," I laughed.
"It doesn't look good on you either."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
He bit his lip and fell. He lifted up the bottom of his pants to reveal his right ankle which was swollen and had cuts all over it. "Can you get the ice pack now?"
"Oh, right," I muttered. "I almost forgot."
I walked into the kitchen and opened up the cabinet. There were ice packs and a bunch of first aid stuff. I took the kit and the ice pack as I sighed. Micheal would eventually have to meet his parents and I knew that he wouldn't be looking forward to that.
I didn't like his parents. They didn't even allow me to attend his funeral because they thought that he and I were in love. They weren't wrong, but it was unfair. When I finally got to visit his gravestone. There were no flowers. I was the first to leave sunflowers on his grave.
"Thank you," he mumbled as he took the ice pack. I took the bandages out of the first aid kit but the second I tried to clean the wound, he yanked his leg away from me.
"It'll never heal if you keep resisting," I stated.
"Sorry, I don't know why I keep flinching."
"Hey, this reminds me of when you used to bandage my wounds in middle school."
"I wonder if I can still play the piano."
I looked up at him. "The piano? I mean, you haven't practised in a minute."
"It's been way more than a minute. My parents are going to be so disappointed."
"You'll be fine, Micheal. Your parents will probably just be happy that you're alive."
"They won't. They got a bunch of money from my death, Marc. They dont give a crap."
"You still need to talk to them." After I finished bandaging his ankle, I cut the rest of the bandage. He looked like he was deep in thought. "How do you want to proceed?"
"What?"
"After the registration and all. You're famous, remember?"
"I dont know."
"Well, you need to figure something out."
"Can't you do it for me?" he asked.
"This is your life and social status we're talking about. You should be the one to decide."
