Chapter 7. Light in the Darkest Corners

"So, you're going into war?" Karumi asks. "Aren't you going to war aswell? Aren't you a knight?" Sulphyr asks. "Uh, well. I mean I'm a captain... the one who handles all the business for the knights." He explains. "But I'm willing to come with you all to the nation of thunder." He responds. "What?!" Kiaru yells. "She can come aswell." He adds on. "More help would be nice." Sulphyr remarks. "How do your magic work?" Esper asks the two. "Well for me, I have Thunder and Dark magic. I sneak up on people and slice at them with my daggers, Kiaru's the one with the bow, she can make any weapon with light magic, and then she gives them to me to use in battle." He explains. "I think you two would be an excellent addition." Both Sulphyr and Esper tell them. "When do we start?" Kiaru asks

When they arrive at the knights headquarters of the nation of Storms, Rhebbi was moving some boxes with her equipment. "Oh hey guys!" She yells out putting the boxes down. "How was the trip? Oh I see you've brought friends!" Rhebbi exclaims. "Rhebbi Lynx, nice to meet you." She tells Karumi and Kiaru. "Nice to meet you too." Karumi responds shaking Rhebbi's hand, Yukuta and Kira walk in from upstairs. "Sulphyr fucking Cora." Yukuta asks outloud. "Uh... yeah that's me" Sulphyr responds. "You've missed countless training sessions for 4 years." He responds looking pissed. "I was in a coma and litteraly on a different island." They respond. "Well you better get your ass to the training grounds 7 am sharp." Yukuta responds before leaving the building.

The group goes out to eat at a restaurant. "This is a real nice place!" Karumi exclaims. "Yup, I'll get us a table." Esper tells them before going to the worker standing at the entrance. They get checked out and go take a seat at one of the tables. "So, Sulphyr." Kiaru asks them. "What's up with your magic, I've never seen anything like it... like that weird guy who tossed Karumi around." She asks. "My magic? It's not an easy topic, I really don't know how to explain it. I guess it's like the other special magic types. Rhebbi here can control metals." They explain. "It's true." Rhebbi adds on. "Well... one more question, How and where did you get your magic." She asks. "Kiaru!" Karumi tells her nudging her. "What?" She asks. "Don't ask personal questions like that!" He responds. "It's fine Karumi, I've never really thought of it before... but if I were to somewhat start, it'd be my family I guess." Sulphyr explains, the group recieve their food and begun to eat, when the group exited they went back to the knights headquarters. "Sulphyr aren't you Zians body guard?" Esper asks them. "Uh... Well shit." They respond.

"It's fine, he got a new one after your disappearance." Esper responds. "So, any missions we can do?" Sulphyr asks. "I guess, but none that are too important." Rhebbi responds. "The wars close isn't it." Sulphyr asks. "Unfortunately, we have like 2 months to be fully prepared." Rhebbi responds. "What about those hunters?" Esper asks Sulphyr. "I'm hoping to either recruit them... or if I can't then kill them." They respond.

With said hunters it's looking grim. "If we don't get the target Lucille would litteraly have our heads." Nulial tells the two. "We've got a month left if it makes it any better." Tamani responds steering the horse cart. "It really doesn't." Komiko and Nulial respond. "They're at the nation of storms, that's our next stop." He responds reassuring the two. "We haven't seen the target use their amulet yet though, what's up with that?" Komiko asks. "I don't know, but we should tread carefully." Nulial responds. The three enter the nation's walls.

"They're here." Sulphyr says outloud. "What? How do you know?" Esper asks. "No time, we gotta go." They respond, the group exit after paying, to see the three waiting. "Have a nice lunch?" Komiko asks. "It was almost too good to be true." Sulphyr responds, the two prepare to blast at eachother with their magic. Tamani charges at Esper and Karumi. "Be on gaurd!" Esper yells, Tamani passes the two after placing his hands on their back. "Blitz!" He yells before setting Esper and Karumi on fire. "Esper!" Sulphyr yells, before getting shot in the side by Komikos magic. "Bring them out!" Komiko yells, Sulphyr grasps their amulet before pulling it off and chucking it away. "No..." They respond, they place their hand on the floor creating a barrier around everyone, Rhebbi and Kiaru get behind Sulphyr. "It's done for you three." Sulphyr tells Komiko before sending a giant magic blast at her, the barrier breaks and Komikos somewhat alive. "Kiaru, check on Esper and your brother." Sulphyr tells her. "On it!" She responds.

"State your terms." Komiko tells them. "Join us instead of being a hunter it's not to late for all three of you. Look around why don't you?" Sulphyr tells her, she looks around and sees Nulial and Tamani tied and held at gunpoint. "Damn... very well." Komiko responds pulling out her compass "Break it." She tells them, Sulphyr grabs it and breaks it severing the tie with all three compasses to Lucille.

"Son of a bitch!" Lucille yells, she felt the severing of the ties with the hunters. "Lucille?" Admani asks her. "They've gone rouge." She responds. Back with the group. "How are they doing?" Sulphyr asks Kiaru. "My healing magic could only suppress the flames, but it didn't get any vital spots so that's lucky." She explains. "So, what can you all do anyway?" Rhebbi asks Nulial and Tamani. "I can take control of someone's body and toss them around like a doll with my special magic." Nulial explains. "I roll a dice that gives me a boost if it's a high roll, that's why when me and Esper were fighting at the nation of Light I was that strong." Tamani explains. "But you rolled a six, how does that work?" Sulphyr asks him. "I can change the odds into whatever I want, so the six. I could make the jackpot number six giving me more strength, it takes alot of magic power though." He explains. "I see why Lucille chose you three for hunters." Sulphyr responds. "So what now?" Komiko asks them.

"I'm gonna go ambush her, she took my friend " Sulphyr responds. "Send back up if it goes wrong." They tell the group before teleporting onto Lucilles airship. "Well... if it isn't the some of a bitch named Sulphyr Cora, I take it you're here for Kuichi?" Lucille asks with a snarky tone. "I've got no time for games Lucille, hand him over." They tell her summoning her sword. "Why would I-" suddenly a giant wave of anger comes from Sulphyr, their magic resonates into each part of Sulphyrs body and their blade. The wave of mere magic sends Lucille into a stunned and shook state. "I knew there was something special about you... Damiani..." Lucille mumbles to herself before summoning her spear.

     "I'd have never thought you'd have the fighting spirit." She tells Sulphyr, magic flowing through every fiber of Sulphyrs being, they grip their blade. "Come on." They respond. "As you wish!" She yells as she charges towards Sulphyr, they deflect her attack and slash at her arm. "Hah!" She blocks their attack, dropping to the floor Lucille swings at Sulphyrs legs, before she could react. Sulphyr grabs her wrist with a large amount of magic, causing a beam of soul magic to manifest. "Holy shit." Lucille mumbles, she barely managed to escape, Sulphyr appears in front of her and punches her. Causing another beam to appear on her stomach. "Die!" They yell before repeatedly punching her.

     Lucille grabs Their arm. "Enough." She tells them, she prepares her scythe to cut off their head, Sulphyr grabs her arm that confines them and throws her across the dock. "Let's finish this." They tell her before creating a ball of condensed magic towards her. "Likewise." She responds doing the exact same thing towards Sulphyr. The moment the two magic orbs meet a giant explosion happens, in the aftermath of the explosion both were nowhere to be seen.

     "C'mon Kuichi!" Sulphyr yells as they carried Kuichi through the forest. "I barely got you out of there, please wake up." They mumbles as they moved towards the nation of storm. The moment they enter the nation's walls they collapse onto the floor. The next morning they wake up in a hospital with Kuichi in the bed next to them. "You did great." Rhebbi tells them, moving the locks of hair away from their face. "How much longer do we have left." Sulphyr asks. "A month before Lucille comes, everyone's training. Komiko, Tamani, Esper, Nulial, Karumi. Everyone" She tells them. "Why aren't you training?" They ask. "I've had to take care of your wounds silly." She responds laughing lightly.
