Grace and Hannah have a routine to hide their relationship down to a science. Whenever Mamrie calls them for the weekly lunch they have together (or try to have) they figure out who will get there first and who will show up late. Only on occasion do they show up together, and they always have an excuse as to why. There was the time Grace showed up late with a hickey on her lower jawline that she hadn't noticed while doing her makeup. But boy did Mamrie notice.
"Grace Anne Helbig is that a hickey?!" Mamrie exclaimed. Hannah was already at the table, and the minute her eyes landed on the glaringly apparent red mark she had left on Grace the night before her cheeks flushed with color. Grace's hand went to cover the mark.
"Um-it's-it doesn't matter." Grace stumbled over her words as she went to sit down. "Anyways how are you?"
"Intrigued by your need to cover up that hickey." Mamrie answered smugly. "Who is the lucky guy?" Grace almost laughs.
"How about we don't talk about that." Grace muttered. And Mamrie dropped it.
This particular Sunday, Grace wakes up before Hannah, which is unusual. Hannah is usually an early bird, wanting to get as much stuff done as possible. But it's 10:49am and she's still asleep, her face nuzzled into Grace's neck. Grace brushes her hair off her forehead and gently presses her lips to it. Hannah is very warm.
"Baby, wake up." Grace whispers softly. Hannah shifts and her eyes flutter open. She groans and covers her face with her hands.
"My head hurts like hell." Hannah mutters, displeased at having been woken up. Grace goes to the hall cabinet and gets out their thermometer.
"I think you might've come down with something." Grace tells the smaller girl. Hannah slides the thermometer under her tongue. It beeps and she checks it.
"100.9. What am I going to do about lunch?" Hannah mumbles, leaning back into the bed and closing her eyes again. Grace climbs back into the bed with her, pulling her into a comforting hug.
"We'll call and cancel. Mamrie will understand you're sick and I can make up an excuse. I'll say Goose is having separation anxiety or something." Grace reassures her girlfriend soothingly.
"No no, you go. I'll be fine here as long as I have my laptop." Hannah insists. Grace attempts to protest but Hannah waves it away. Grace rolls her eyes.
"Why must you always have your way?" Grace teases, going to kiss Hannah. Hannah pushes her back.
"Nope I'm not getting you sick. You don't need to be catching whatever flu I have right before shooting Grace Show again." Hannah tells Grace firmly. Grace settles for getting up to make Hannah tea.

Grace is a fantastic liar, and she knows it. So she has no worries when she goes to lunch with Mamrie about her and Hannah. She checked and double checked for hickies, as she does everytime now. She heads into the little cafe and is heading back to their regular table, about to ask where Hannah is, when something catches her offguard.
Mamrie invited Chester See.
Mamrie had had her suspicions about Grace dating someone for awhile. And she had finally settled on the idea that Grace and Chester were dating. Grace had an inkling Chester liked her, but she didn't feel the same. She had Hannah, and that was more than enough.
"Hey, Chester." She says nervously, sitting next to Mamrie. "Hey Mames. Where's Hannah?" Mamrie watches Grace and Chester very closely before answering.
"She said she's sick. I offered to go check on her but she said her girlfriend took care of her." Mamrie says, her eyes flashing the way they always do when she's excited about something. "Then I asked who her girlfriend is and she hung up on me. That cheeky little shit." Mamrie laughs. "I bet it's Sarah. Those two were always a little too friendly."
"Maybe." Grace muses, a little burn of jealousy stinging her heart. She wants to be able to be out and proud and call Hannah her girlfriend but she's just not totally comfortable with her sexuality. She doesn't really know what it is. She never put a label to it.
"I always thought Hannah and Ingrid would be cute together." Chester adds, smiling shyly. Grace nods a little and smiles back. Mamrie bumps her knee under the table. The three of them order and talk a little, with Mamrie trying to pick up on romantic vibes from Grace and Chester. It's almost comical to Grace.
Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.
Grace takes her phone from her pocket and checks the message. It's from Hannah. Grace hurriedly hides the phone to read the text.
hey babe...i kinda sorta might've thrown up on your carpet. im very sorry :(
Grace looks at Mamrie, who is focused on Chester's conversation, before responding.
oh god han don't be sorry. ill excuse myself and come home to take care of you
i would tell you to stay but as ive had to lock goose out of the bedroom so she doesn't try to eat the puke, i think it might be a good idea for you to come home.
ill be home in 15 minutes, tops. love you <3
love you too gracie :3*
"Is everything alright Grace?" Chester asks. Grace nods absentmindedly.
"I need to head home though, I have a video to film and edit." She mumbles. Mamrie leans over and hugs Grace. Grace goes around the table to hug Chester before waving goodbye and heading out the door.
"Something is up with her." Mamrie mutters. Chester raises his eyebrows in questioning.
"What do you mean?" He ponders. Mamrie shrugs.
"I don't know. It's like she's hiding something. She always has somewhere else to be." Mamrie admits. "You don't know anything about it do you?" Chester shakes his head.
"Grace doesn't tell me anything. I don't think she tells anyone anything." He tells Mamrie.
"Well I'm hell bent on finding out what she's hiding." Mamrie says seriously.
