"Grace what the fuck just happened?" Hannah asks, her voice quiet now.
"H-he kissed me." Grace stammers, still trembling. Chester looks between Hannah and Grace a few times, shame overwhelming his body. I must be going insane. Chester thinks, his mind racing. I keep loosing control and now it's fucking up everything. Chester looks at Grace and wants to say sorry but somehow he can't manage to choke the words out and he just turns away and goes down the hallway.
"I can't believe you." Hannah says. On the surface she just seems angry, but looking into her eyes Grace sees she's hurt and in shock.
"Hannah I didn't-I didn't want him to kiss me I-" Grace rambles, tears still dripping down her cheeks.
"Why didn't you pull away then? Why did you wait until I was out here to stop kissing him?" Hannah continues, raising her voice.
"I don't know I was in shock and I just, I don't know Hannah I'm sorry." Grace whispers.
"I was okay with you being closet, I understand that's hard. I was okay with lying and sneaking around, keeping our relationship from everyone, even Mamrie." Hannah states. "But I am not fucking okay with you kissing him, or letting him kiss you, or whatever the hell you want to call it!" She yells the last part, her voice ripping through the empty theater and tearing into Grace, who feels as though all the air in the world has been taken from her.
"Whoa, ladies, let's take it down a notch." Mamrie says, coming out of the dressing room. "What happened, why are you yelling Hannah?" Hannah looks at Mamrie, her face red, breathing heavily.
"She-she fucking kissed him." Hannah hisses angrily. Grace can't look at Hannah or Mamrie or anywhere for that matter so she just closes her eyes, slumping onto the floor. Her body is still shaking with anxious tremors. She's never taken being yelled at well and Hannah yelling at her is a 100 times worse.
"Hannah you need to calm down." Mamrie says firmly. "Go, get your stuff, and take a cab to the airport. And try to reason shit out, why don't you?" Hannah gathers her things quickly and leaves. Mamrie comes over to Grace on the floor.
"I'm sorry Mamrie." Grace whispers, her voice thick with tears. Mamrie envelopes Grace in a tight hug, comforting her until she's calm enough to talk.
"What happened? I know you wouldn't cheat on Hannah. She's grossly overreacting." Mamrie says.
"Chester apologized for what happened and I was explaining I should be sorry too and he just leaned forward and kissed me and I was so shocked I could process it until Hannah yelled and I just knew she was pissed at me." Grace mumbles. "I don't know what to do to fix this Mamrie. I didn't mean to mess things up."
"Grace, it's okay. Hannah was overreacting, she didn't think about reason, she just let her anger take over. When she's calm, she'll see you didn't do anything wrong." Mamrie assures Grace, offering her a hand to help her stand up. Grace stands and the pair go to hail a cab.
~
The plane lands at 2:30am. Mamrie says goodbye and gets in her car to drive home. Hannah clambers into the drivers seat and Grace gets in the passenger. She keeps her gaze focused outside the window until they get home.
"I'm sleeping on the couch tonight." Hannah mutters once they've gotten inside. Grace wants to protest, but she thinks better of it and just goes to the bedroom, Goose trailing her, confused. Grace climbs into the bed and Goose jumps up too. She assumes Goose will welcome the space and take Hannah's spot, but she doesn't. Goose just curls up at the end like she always does, giving Grace a look that seems to say, That's Hannah's spot.
Grace closes her eyes but her mind is wide awake. She had a lot of trouble sleeping before she and Hannah moved in together, but once Hannah was in bed with her she felt calmer and more at ease. She'd always fall asleep right away with Hannah's arms around her. But tonight, one of the few nights since they started living together she hasn't slept with Hannah, she's wide awake.
Meanwhile, out on the couch, Hannah's awake too. She feels terrible for yelling at Grace, knowing how badly that affects her. Hannah sighs, wishing she was in bed with Grace in her arms. I should've listened to Grace. Hannah thinks. I shouldn't have jumped to those conclusions.
And so they both lay, missing the other. The house seems divided. Goose is restless with the change of routine and soon after jumping up on the bed she jumps off it, her collar jingling. She pads out of the bedroom to the living room and over to the couch.
"Hi Goosie." Hannah whispers sleepily, petting the dog's head. Goose lets out a low bark. "Shh honey, Grace is sleeping." Goose ignores Hannah's attempts at scolding her and barks again. "Go to sleep Goose." The dog gives one of her signature humphs. "Go lay down." Hannah says firmly. That's one of the few commands Hannah and Grace had managed to teach Goose. The dog concedes, going and plopping her great body down in the middle of the living room.

A/N- I weirdly enjoyed writing about Goose. She's a queen and she deserves more spotlight. I think this story might be coming to a close soon (ish). But don't take that as fact.Comments, critiques, and ideas to my inbox as usual darlings. X
