"It's raining," Chloe said as water droplets clung to her lashes, sliding down her cheeks like delicate tears. Each cool drop was a sharp contrast to the tingling warmth of Damian's embrace.

"Typical. A blackout as the storm hits," Damian remarked as thunder rumbled, mingling with the rain. The downpour deepened, weaving his wet hair into glossy tendrils curling at the nape of his neck.

"What do we do now?" Her voice cut through the excitement erupting in the darkness. The party transformed into shouts and cheers amid the flicker of phones. This was college life—a time when even a blackout turned into an impromptu festival.

"How about we escape to my place? It's quiet where we can talk. We can get an Uber," Damian offered. He placed his beer on the nearest surface and wrapped both arms around Chloe. His firm grip on her waist was a thrill, his closeness sending her senses into overdrive.

"I d-don't do one-night stands," her voice trembled. Her eyes adjusted to the dark, observing the outlines of his shadowed face.

"Neither do I. You're safe at my place." Damian lifted her chin, drawing her closer to his warmth despite the cold, wet rain.

"Let's go, then." Chloe nodded as he dialed an Uber from his phone.

Damian chuckled, the sound sending vibrations through her. "Then we're in for an interesting night."

"Holy crap! You live here? It's a mansion." Chloe couldn't believe her eyes when she stepped out of the car with Damian fifteen minutes later.

His home was a breathtaking show of modern architecture, its sleek lines and expansive glass facades glowing under the moonlight. The house sprawled across a meticulously landscaped property, where shadows and light played across the mowed lawns and an azure pool.

A sudden flicker of lights signaled the end of the blackout, bathing every sleek surface in a warm, welcoming glow. The automatic doors slid open, revealing a grand foyer with a towering ceiling and a striking chandelier. Tasteful sculptures and contemporary art pieces adorned the space, each more captivating than the last.

"Damian, who exactly are you?" Chloe asked, gaping at the ambient living room with its plush sofas and minimalist decor. She was about to step into his world, a far cry from where she grew up—a leafy middle-class suburb where nothing was out of the ordinary.

Damian's home was extraordinary.

He hesitated before responding, the weight of his words hanging in the air. "If I reveal my story, would it alter anything between us?"

Chloe's response was immediate. "Unless you've got a body hidden somewhere, we're good."

He let out a small, wry smile. "Damian Scott, at your service."
