Tension hung like a thick fog in the lofty expanse of Alistair's penthouse office. Vera stood, her posture rigid, with her hands on her hips. "Are you out of your mind?" she exploded. "You can't possibly think exposing Damian to that woman is wise!"

Alistair turned, his features set in stoic resolve. "That woman is Damian's mother. Lazarus, here, and I agreed that if anyone can navigate her schemes, it's my son." He turned to Nick, who stood quietly by the window.

"Scotty's right. Damian is a Quinn and a Scott—born from a lineage of resilience and cunning," Nick said.

Vera shook her head, her caramel brown locks tousling with the movement. "It only takes one misstep to bring down everything we've built. We must find another solution. Our daughter needs protection, and I won't have Damian sacrifice his future for it."

Alistair dismissed her plea with a nonchalant wave of his hand. "You don't understand, We need Damian."

"At what cost? Is it worth it?" Vera challenged.

Alistair paced, the soft thud of his steps against the polished floor. "Sweetheart, you know as well as I do the kind of manipulator Saira is. She's a chess master, playing people like pawns."

He stopped, locking eyes with Vera, then Damian. "Diving into legal battles or trying to outmaneuver her in the boardroom has only ever bought us temporary reprieves. She finds a way back, each time more vindictive. But Damian," he gestured at his son, "is not just any pawn or a bystander in her games."

Nick cleared his throat. "Damian can get close and gain her trust in ways none of us can. My sister will suspect us of plotting and counter-moves. We've been in the game too long, but Damian's fresh. He's the variable in the equations Saira can't predict. She won't believe her own son would turn against her. It's a blind spot born out of her arrogance and underestimation of him."

Turning to Damian, Alistair's tone softened but carried an undercurrent of steel. "You've learned from the best, observed her tactics, and know what's at stake. Not just for Hope or the company but for all of us. You can navigate this and dismantle her plots from the inside."

He placed a hand on Damian's shoulder, grounding his words with the weight of his conviction. "I wouldn't ask this of you if I didn't believe in your ability to handle it or if there were any other way. You have the strategic mind and emotional leverage we desperately need. She's vulnerable when it comes to you. We need to end this nightmare."

Nick spoke, his voice rough like gravel. "He's right, Damian. It's hard, but you've got the mettle for it. And we're not just throwing you to the wolves here—we're right behind you every step of the way."

Alistair nodded, affirming Nick's point. "This isn't just about strategy. It's about family. Protecting what's ours and ensuring the next generation doesn't have to fight the same battles."
