It's not easy to be called a weirdo. Not having friends, people not liking you. Luz knew this very well. She felt lonely, her childhood was lonely. Her father's death was sad, she didn't feel the same way as before.

With this, her mind started to look for something to protect her from all that pain. Sometimes she felt very vulnerable, she wanted a lap, a comfort, or something to help it go away. She would cry, and cry, or get extremely excited, like she was a child again.

Like a grown child on the internet, she eventually discovered age regression. At first she thought it was just another one of the existing online communities, but with a little research, she understood that it was a defense mechanism, and that this is what she felt when she was very stressed or sad.

The girl had had these regressions for quite some time, had various comfort objects hidden in her room, but now on the boiling isles, she had none of it. It wasn't because she couldn't, but because she was afraid.

Luz was already somewhat underestimated for being human in a realm of magic. Her greatest fear was that Eda would see her only as a little child, and if she regressed in front of her, Eda would be sure of it.

But in great stress, where she couldn't think of a gift for Amity for their anniversary, study for hexside exams, and look strong for Eda, her mind needed its safe place.

While at the kitchen table playing with King, she accidentally knocks over a glass cup that ends up breaking. Luz gets up from her chair and tries to clean up what she just did.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry"- Repeated desperately Luz

"Calm down kiddo, it was just an accident, no need to apologize like that"- Eda replied, while cooking

"But I broke the glass..."- Tiredness overcame her. Luz began to cry

Eda, who was making lunch, turned off the stove and went straight to the girl, worried that she had been hurt

"Luz! Did you cut yourself? Is everything alright?"- Eda asked, picking Luz up and placing her on the counter to see if there were any injuries. -"Luz, you don't have any bruises apparently, why are you crying? If it's the glass, it's okay, it's just a glass"

Luz was still crying, Eda then stroked the girl's head.

"You must be tired, kiddo. Release all you have to cry"- The owl woman spoke to reassure the girl

"Damn it, I can't cry"- Said Luz, somewhat frustrated.

"Of course you can, what's gotten into you"- Eda asked confusedly.

"Eda, you know I'm just a little kid, I only know how to cry, break glasses, and feeling like this just proves it!"- Said Luz.

"Luz, you are an amazing girl, expressing what you feel is not childish, and you know it well. Feeling stressed does not prove that you are helpless, but a person"- Said Eda

"I meant that I feel small now. I know you'll think I'm weird, it's bizarre yes, but it helps me a lot"

"Ah girl, you know that weirdos always have to stick together! No matter what it is, I'll never think you're weird for anything. But now, spit it out, what did you mean by feeling small?"

"Well, a while ago I discovered that I have a defense mechanism, I kind of mentally regress to a younger state, especially when I'm stressed.... Look, I know it's weird, and that, it's good for me.... You may think I'm weird, it's okay."- Somewhat apprehensive Luz was

Eda, raise your hand, and stroke Luz's head.

"Kid, I think it's rather brave of you to take that on for me. And I think it's more bada- cool, that you try to take care of yourself from stress, I would never think you're weird for that. In fact, weirdos always stick together."

"Thank you, Eda. Sometimes I miss the things I had in my house, it helps me a lot when I'm like this"

"What things?"

"Comfort objects, like..."

"If you don't want to talk, it's okay."

"No, it's okay, I'll talk.... Well, since I regress to a very young age, like 2 to 5 years old, I have a pacifier, a bottle, a blanket, and teddy bears.

"We can work it out, don't worry. It's fine with me, Luz. How about I read you a story? One that I read to King when he was little.

"I think that's a great idea!"

Eda takes Luz off the counter and places her on her lap. Eda goes to the main bookshelf in the living room, picks up a book and sits down on the couch with Luz beside her. King woke up from his nap and went with them. Eda, began to read the story to the children, quickly, the little one went deep into her regressive state. Eda read the story making funny voices for the characters and the children laughed.

At the end of the story, Luz fell asleep, with a peaceful countenance on her face. King, too, was sleeping peacefully. Eda then gets up, gets a blanket for the children and covers them. She puts the book away, goes to the kitchen, and turns her face to the children.

"It's so nice to see them accepting who they really are. I am proud of my children"- Eda said with a smile on her face
