That was a complicated day. Beck spent a lot of time in her master's classes and had a therapy session. Not that the therapy was bad, but she was very pensive after the sessions. She has just got out of the shower, wearing a pair of Cookie Monster sweatpants from Sesame Street and a long-sleeved white shirt. She then lay down on the bed, looking at Joe, who was in the armchair reading a book. She looks over with a peck, but he's too distracted reading his book.

After a few seconds, he notices that Beck has just got out of the shower. He notices that she's wearing her Sesame Street pajamas, and then he snaps, Beck is probably feeling small. He gets up and lies down on the bed next to the little girl.

"Looks like someone's already out of the bath"- He smiled as he smoothed Beck's hair. "So, are you sleepy, babe?"- He asks and she denies it. "Hungry? Oh, there's no way, we had dinner an hour ago... I know, my little girl is small!"- He said, causing Beck to laugh softly.

He sits down on the bed and pulls Beck onto his lap. The girl sits on Joe's lap and rests her head on his chest. He cuddled Beck, who was curled up on Joe's lap.

"How small are you feeling, my love?"- Joe asked, looking at Beck.

Beck just smiled and lay back on Joe's chest, so he understood that she was very small and needy, like a koala cub. He stroked the girl's back while she just enjoyed the warmth of her caregiver. Silence dominated, but it wasn't frightening. The mutual affection between them made the silence a melody.

After a while, Joe notices that Beck is restless, perhaps the lap was no longer enough. He gets up and puts Beck to bed, which she complains about. He picks up his laptop and sits down on the bed again, and soon Beck is back on Joe's lap. He picks her up and puts the old care bears, which makes Beck smile. She snuggles with her head on Joe's shoulder while watching the cartoon.

They watched the cartoon for a few minutes, until Joe noticed that Beck had her finger in her mouth.

"Hey, hey, hey little girl, don't put your finger in your mouth, it's bad"- He says, trying to convince her.

She looks at Joe and makes a puppy dog face. He leans over to the headboard and picks up the box where Beck's pacifier used to be.

"Here, this is better"- He laughs and hands it to Beck.

Beck takes it and puts it in her mouth, leaning back on Joe's shoulder, enjoying the older man's lap. So they watched the cartoon for a while, enjoying the moment, and Beck became more and more sleepy. Her eyes tried to stay open and her sucking on her pacifier became slower. Joe knew that his little girl needed to sleep. He paused the episode and spoke to her.

"Princess, you're getting really, really tired, shall we go to sleep? I'll read you a bedtime story"- He said, smiling.

Beck hadn't liked that she couldn't watch the cartoon anymore, but sleep and a good bedtime story convinced her. Joe picks up a rather old book, a version of Alice in Wonderland, and sits down on his side of the bed, while Beck lies down on her side, next to Joe. She snuggles close to the boy, who begins to read.

Beck felt increasingly safe and sleepy as she listened to her safe haven recite words that might be difficult to understand at the moment. Joe read to the end, he himself was interested in the book, even though he had read it thousands of times in different versions. He looked over and saw that Beck had fallen asleep, cuddled up with a plush brown puppy, sucking quietly on her pacifier. The boy's heart softened, he loved his little girl. He lies down and kisses her forehead.

"Good night baby girl"
