Pinky Promise
~ • • ~

"The pinky promise is the strongest promise that exists."

The sun hung high in the light blue sky. Clouds swirling and drifting over the vision. Songs sung by a flock of birds resounded through the heavens.

The creaking of old wood, submerged in the ocean's cold current for who knows how long, swiftly caught the ears of the men working near the dock. Shouts and yells were exchanged as the scorched boat approached.

"Nothing, huh?", a young man in his late twenties thought out loud quietly. He shook his head with a disappointed sigh. He analyzed the boat as a whole as his fellow tribesmen rushed to the water. The burn marks and destroyed wood suggested a heavy fire attack. The wood was scorched all over. Most like a Monstrous Nightmare. The various spines embedded into the wood, however, stated it was a combined attack with a Deadly Nadder.

A sudden slap onto his back quickly brought him out of his wandering thoughts. He couldn't help but let out a grunt as he stumbled forward.

"Ay! Gunnar! What's got you thinking so hard?", Gobber questioned with a grin as he watched amused as Gunnar steadied himself. Then, he noticed a second pair of smaller legs and feet.

"Ah. The little one's with you too then", he chuckled as he watched the small figure hide inside of Gunnar's jacket. The said man couldn't help but chuckle softly to himself as he felt tiny hands tightly clasped around his clothing.

He grinned over at Gobber. "He wanted to come and welcome back the men."

Gobber smirked as he eyes the slightly fighting feet. "Well, he can't really do it while hidden under there, now can he?"

Gunnar patted his youngest's head, to the best of his abilities, and smiled. "He's just a little shy is all."

Before Gobber could commentate any more, a rough landing of a heavy body onto the dock shook the wood. A heavy sigh followed as the red-headed man glanced over a last time at the boat he commanded.

Gunnar shook his head lightly as he gently nudged his child to move with him. Steadily, he and Gobber sauntered over to the approaching man.

"It's seems you had no luck again, Chief?", Gunnar slowly asked, not wanting to agitate him.

"None at all", Stoick grumbled under his breath as he allowed Gobber to take his bag. He scratched his temple out of frustration. "It shouldn't be this difficult to find it."
