Adder

I decided to take a walk to cool off a little more. I mean I know I could run into Adder so I had Nightmare come with me. And Hydra. I went into the comic shop and bought Lloyd the new book in his comic series. What? I can be upset with him and still buy him stuff. Besides, his birthday is coming up. I then went to the sweet shop and bought some chocolate. I went to the park and started eating them.

"Well, well, well. Look who we have here," a cold and silky voice said.

I froze. "Adder," I breathed. I felt Hydra stiffen on my shoulder. Nightmare, I mentally called. My night black dragon landed in front of me and growled. I stood up slowly. "Hello, Adder. It's been a while," I said calmly.

He smirked. "It has, hasn't it? Doesn't seem like you're terrified of me anymore. That's not good."

I tilted my head to the side. "Why must I be afraid? I have a dragon standing between us." One that can teleport us out of here if I need him to, I added silently.

"I can take a dragon on." He lit his hand on fire. I flinched and he laughed. "Guess you are still afraid."

I glared. "You abuse the right of having the element fire."

"Compared to who?"

"Kai, the fire master."

"Oh, right. I forgot you've been hanging out with the ninja."

"Hanging out? I live with them. One of them is my husband after all."

"He won't be for long."

"You will not touch him," I hissed. "I won't let you touch my family, got it?"

He snorted. "How are you going to stop me?" He raised his hands and snakes started slithering out of the ground.

I took a step back and gulped. Dammit! He knows what terrifies me. No, I corrected myself. He knows what he made me terrified of. I lifted my chin defiantly. "I'm not afraid of you. I just hate your guts."

"Then why did you hide? Why not face me?"

"I'm facing you now," I replied coldly. "You haven't had to fight in a war, Adder, like I have. Don't test me."

He took a step forward. "Oh, but I want to. I want to see how much stronger you believe you are than me. I want to see if you can suppress your fear of me enough to fight."

I stood my ground as he walked over to me. Nightmare began snarling. "Shh," I said. "Let him get close."

But...

No, I said mentally. Just be ready to teleport us out of here. Okay?

Fine.

Adder came to a stop in front of me. "Satisfied that I'm not afraid of you?"  I asked him.

He studied me for a minute. "I admit I never thought you'd overcome your fear of me after all the pains I went through to put you that way. I guess I'll just have to start over."

I backflipped as he tried to hit me with a fireball. I smirked at him as he stared at me in amazement. "What? You think I could live as a princess and be married to the Green Ninja and not learn how to fight? That's a stupid thing to think, Adder." He launched himself at me with a snarl and I twisted and kicked him in the chest. He flew backward and hit a tree. I tilted my head to the side and watched as he slowly got to his feet. I titled my head to the side. "Did that hurt?"

"Bitch," was his response.

I shrugged. "That's just how I am nowadays. I have to be since I'm happily married to the Green Ninja." I glanced at Nightmare and gave a slight nod. He teleported us out of there. And I, of course, passed out.
