We walked down the dirt road surrounded by other house and farms and stalls, the smells of manure and freashly cooked food people were selling was overwhelming. To meet a 'wonderful' family for a possibly arranged marriage to bitch. An absolute bitch. I suppressed a sigh, I didn't want to do this at all but, I had to to this for my family. Our family's had been friends for a long time and me and Hao Mei have known each other since we were kids,  but I've never liked her. She's mean, rude, spoiled, and thinks the world revolves around her, but the matchmaker matched us so here we are. We were nearing the house where the Hao family was waiting for us, it was a nice house, bigger then ours for sure. Shoving down another sigh as we walked down a bush lined path I lifted my head only to get jumped by a blur of pink silk and ribbons.

"Qian!" Mei said throwing her arms around my neck she had obviously gone over the top to look nice, her face paper white and her lips were to red, like cherries, her brown hair was done in two low buns and adornedwith accessories.

"Hao Mei...",I replied looking coldly at my parnets out of the corner of my eye, blaming them for causing what would be a day of psychological pain, which reminded me to smike ."It's good to see you..."

I hate Hao Mei therefore the day went by painstakingly slow since I spent the whole day with her talking about what she wants for the future while our parentstalked about a possible marriage for us. It was hell! However, it was way worse when I returned home. My parents had left before me and ditched  me so I walk all the way back home alone and once I finally got back I had to do my chores Totally exhausted I stumbled through the door where my my parents were waiting and they began scolding me.

"You were so uptight!" My mother said sternly  with her hands on her hips.

"And unbelievably unsocailable, you make it seem like torture!" My father yelled."Now another marriage is wasted!"

I didn't say anything, I just hung my head, I never meant to disappoint my parents but it seems everything I do disappoints them, then agian i dont remember a time when they had even been around to praise me. I felt like crying as they continued to chew me out for being 'ungrateful'.

"Get out." My father said suddenly and my head shot up.

"What?" I asked softly with wide eyes.

"You heard me. Get out. Don't come until you bring back a nice girl or something to make us proud." He instructed glaring down at me." You have till tomorrow morning to be out of my house."

With that my father stormed off followed by my mother who shot me a look of disappointment. I sat alone for what felt like forever holding back tears in the now empty front hall before I got up my despair replaced with anger. I stormed off to my room and grabbed an extra set of clothes and the little money I had before stuffing them into a satchel. I stopped by the alter and prayed to my ancestors for luck.
